What is the process of choosing a site at Leo Carrillo State Park?|198230

We have a reservation and I know that its first-come-first-served, but how early can we get there? When do we actually get the spot? Is there a point to arriving early? Thanks.

  • You show up as early as you want. The kiosk doesn_t open until 8. Some days they have a lottery, others it_s first-come, first serve. They have a list of sites available, and the first one to be chosen (or first in line, depending on lottery or FCFS) chooses their site around 9 AM. But you cannot get into the spot until the previous occupants leave. Checkout is noon.

So yes, there is a point to arriving early.

This is why I like Carpinteria, where they have sites assigned when you make the reservation.
