How long does it take to get from DC to Vegas by Train?|112729

I know AMTRAK doesn_t do direct service, so I would probably have to take multiple trains. But does anyone know how long that would take in total (counting all train changes). Thanks and best regards.

From DC you take the Capitol Limited train to Chicago. That would be overnight; the train leaves DC in the afternoon and you get to Chicago the next morning. Then you change in Chicago to the Southwest Chief which leaves there in the afternoon and you would spend 2 full days on the train and get to a point where you can get off and get transportation to Vegas. You can get off the train at about 1:00 AM in Needles, Az, or about 3:30 AM in Barstow, Ca, or ride all the way to LA at about 9:00 AM. Then it depends on whether you want a bus or rental car to get to Vegas. So you spend 4/5 days using the train.

There are no public train service to Las Vegas. Amtrak does not go to Las Vegas. The closest stop I think is Kingman AZ. From there you will have to find your way by bus.

Not sure but it took me 3 days to go about the same distance.
