How do I get an American passport?|156010

I live in America and I am wanting to get a passport. I am unsure on how to go about it, can anyone help me out? I also have a few othe questions: how long will it take to complete the process. Also how long are passports good for? How much do they cost? What information do I need to get the passport? And, Are there any good websites I should check out?

  • If you are an American citizen, go to this website to read all passport application information, see the list of documents you need and print out the forms. It is currently taking 4 to 6 weeks to process a passport. Passports are good for 10 years and cost $97.00.

  • U can apply for a passport at any post office. There is an application fee.

  • apply @ any post office..passport pictures can be done @ kinkos or Walgrens or the post office $10.00-18.00 for 2 pictures. You need a certified birth certificate..write to the Co in which you were born..cost is $25.00. Take all of this back to the post office and pay $80.00 and an additional fee if it needs to be done in a hurry..In Oct it took exactly 2 weeks {altho we were told 8-10 weeks} from the time we turned in all our info. the postoffice can give you a time frame. Passports are good for 10 years.

  • First of all you_re going to need your birth certificate and social security card to prove your identity. Right now the processing takes a lot longer since the unusually high amounts of people getting their passports. (Mainly because you now need a passport to travel to Mexico and Canada) Passports last a good 5 years or so. Cost is rather high, since you need to get two passport photos, which you can get at Kinko_s or even Walgreen_s or CVS, and then the fees involved in processing.

There are lots of places to get one, but usually the best is either the post office or your city_s Clerk of Courts office.
