About how much money would I need to take to New York City for a weekend?|156933

I am going to NYC for my birthday on August 13 thru August 17 and Im turning 20! Its my first time going and im staying with a friend...I want to know how much money I would need to eat, shop (and not the fake sh*t either), play with, probably to get around (like a taxi and what not), and just any other stuff! Please help and thanks for the advise!

I go to NYC all the time, so I would say at least $600. You HAVE to see a broadway show, which, at TKTS in Time Square you can get tickets for about 50 to 100 bucks, or else buy full price for about $200 depending on the show. Taxis are about 5 dollars a fare for long distances, so I really recommend you take the subway or walk, so about fifty for travel fares. NYC has amazing restaurants, but none of them are the least bit inexpensive, so you might want $200 for dining. And the hotels are normal, so probably about $350 to $400 for 4 nights in a hotel that doesn_t include breakfast (most of them don_t). Then some money for new clothes, the stores are like anywhere else, unless you do buy the _fake sh*t_ then its a lot cheaper. Bring a lot of money if you_re going high end, Barneys makes Bloomindale_s look like a macy_s. And even Macy_s in NYC has expensive stuff. You also want some money for Museums, and not the boring history ones. MoMa (Museum of modern Art) is AMAZING! As well as MAD (museum of art and design). And of course, clubs as well, since its the City That Never Sleeps. Hope I helped!

First of all make sure you keep your money in a safe place. I know a guy got $2,000 stolen from him from his backpack on a NYC bus so watch out...i would suggest you have like $350 if you wanna have fun but if you wanna do alot of stuff have some more money but most of the things there aren_t that expensive

Well it depends on which part of NYC your going to (its a really big city and in NYC its self there are tons of differ price ranges) When I went It was about $250 for the hotel $100+ for shopping $50+ for fun and maybe $30-$40 on taxi_s( depends how much you drive around) and $50 for other. So in all $490-$550.

I would say at least $300 to $500 per day if you_re going to do a lot of shopping. You could do it less expensively if you use mass transit instead of cabs. You can pretty much get anywhere you want using subways.

i would say 2,000. if you want to do fun things, stay in a nice hotel, and shop. i wont take the taxi, walk or take the subway it is much cheaper and quicker.

Well, anywhere between $500 and $1000. Just spend it wisely.
