Are number addresses on the same side of the street on all parallel streets?|110895

In a given city, say Los Angeles, do all the east/west streets have even numbers on one side and odd numbers on the other side? Is it uniform throughout the city?

  • yes, uniform city, easy to find an address

  • In general, it_s true for individual cities in the Los Angeles area. But I believe that a few cities in the Los Angeles area have the even and odd numbers reversed from what the majority of the cities do.

  • yup, same goes for north/south
  • What age do you start and finish middle school in the USA?|111376

I live in england and have no idea what middle school is.

  • I live in Missouri and middle school here is from 6th to 8th grades. So about an 11 year old to about 13, I would say.
    Elem school K-5
    High School 9-12

  • You_re get varying answers if you try this way. I suggest CALLING someone or looking it up on Google (there_s wikipedia).

As for California, we normally start middle school after sixth grade, and generally we are around the age of twelve or thirteen when we enroll.

  • Normally you_re 10 or 11 when you start and 13 or 14 when you finish. It is the 6th, 7th and 8th years of schooling.
  • Which of the NC beaches is the quietest and least developed?|121407

My family and I want to rent a home for a week this summer off the coast of North Carolina. I want something quiet and non-commercialized, but not difficult to get to by car. Any suggestions?

  • Anything that is easy to get to by car is developed.

If you have four wheel drive, drive north to Corolla. When the road ends keep driving up the beach to Cordova.

What ski town in New Mexico caters best to budget-minded families with kids?|197414

I_d like to drive there from Houston over Christmas break for a few days in the snow for my snow-deprived children. But I_m a teacher so we_re not rich, and only the man in my life is any good at skiing. So something with some nice tame slopes would be good, too.

    Any suggestions?

  • Yes, go to the state of New Mexico Department of Tourism or just start by _Googling_ (toolbar) New Mexico ski areas/resorts/skiing/etc
    sounds fun, I_m envious! ha
  • How long does it take to get from Washington state to California driving?|119023

We live in Tacoma And we want to get to anaheim

  • A little over 16 and 1/2 hours.
    Look here:

    http://maps.yahoo.com/;_ylc=X3oDMTExNmIy

  • From my experience it took about 20 hrs with minimal stops only about 3 or 4 stops for gas but one of the ppl driving wouldn_t go over 60 mph

  • I live in California, and I have family from Spokane that drive here, so I think it takes a few days.
Actually, it depends on if you make stops or other things like that, so time varies

  • If you leave really early (6:00 a.m.) you can make it to Redding, California by 8:00 p.m. You_ll hit some traffic in Olympia and then again in Portland and Salem, Oregon - once you get past Salem you won_t have much traffic until you head up the Siskiyou Mountains in Southern Oregon (it_s mostly truck traffic and snow/ice issues). You_ll be pretty tired by the time you get to Redding, so spend the night and leave really early the next morning and you_ll get into Anaheim about 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. the next night. You_ll have some traffic issues around Sacramento and LA.

It_s a good drive - you_ll see some beautiful countryside in the Napa Valley.
  • What is the legal age a teen can leave home in hawaii?|192068

Does anyone know? I heard it was 17 in texas, ohio, and other states.

but what about hawaii? I_ve checked everywhere, and couldn_t find the answer someone please help!

  • You may legally emancipate yourself at the age of sixteen. You have to prove you can clothe, feed and shelter yourself. The other option is to become one of the many teen runaways living on the street.

  • as soon as a person is able to run on their legs, they are free to run away. nobody cares if they want to throw away their lives. go ahead and quit school. nobody is going to lose a minute of sleep over this. ruin your life , your future, your health, just so you can be free from your _lame_ and _uncool_ parents and family...michael jackson has died, so nothing else matters anymore..do what you want. this world is crap

  • Leave home and never come back????? Prolly between the ages of 16-20

How does Austin compare to San Francisco?|109049

I live with my wife and 2 kids in the SF Bay area and could possibly move to Austin for my job. Can anyone tell me how these two cities compare as far as quality of life, schools, culture and outdoor activities?

  • In several ways....

    1. It_s very liberal.. They have always said that Austin is the most liberal city east of San Fransisco. I think that_s why we_re most known.

    2. We_re pretty gay friendly - That_s what people know San Fransisco for.. Gay friendly. Austin is also very gay friendly.

    3. Great environment - As much as Austin is growing, and we_re growing rapidly.. Tkae like the size of Louisville.. We_re growing that many people in as little as a few years. Anyways, point being, as much as we_re growing, we_re keeping an awesome environment. One person came here and said as much as Austin looks like a mini Houston growth wise, it is so green and nice. That_s the truth.

    4. Arts - Great art stuff? lol, idk a whole lot about that.

San Fransisco is a city mixed with politics, and university students. That_s the same with Austin. VERY political, VERY left, GREAT place to live, one of the best paces to raise your kids, the best place for Hispanics to live, one of the ebst places for shopping, and one of the most friendliest places. It_s a minuture SF, and pretty soon it_ll be bigger lol.

The weather is also very hot, but for the past few years, it_s snowed several times. :) so that_s cool. It_s usually in the 50_s- in the winter, and 90_s+ in the summer. Texas weather is very wierd. One part of town may get 5_ of rain, and the other part may get a trace. One day it was like in the 70_s, and the next day it snowed lol.

Sports are pretty big too.. The University of Texas is what most sports are tho, so it_s not usually proffesional.. Even tho austin is getting a NBA basketball team i think, lol. not to mention we_re not far at all from Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio. We_re like in the middle, lol.

  • You need to learn to like hot weather and live in air conditioning most of the time. Traffic isn_t very bad. It_s got a nice downtown. Great airport. Learn to like TexMex food. It_s very different from the Bay Area. Outdoor activities are limited with the heat. With University of Texas there, cultural activities are pretty good, but remember it_s Texas, not San Francisco. Good luck!

  • its the best. always something to do in/out. schools good, lay-back
life style. and the only time the ground shakes is when the UT football team takes the field. GO HORNS

  • I think Austin is great! I have lived here 4 years and it gets better each year. There is a great quality of life and plenty to do outside. Many people jog the 10 mile lake side jog trail in downtown. For biking Austin is a very great place. Bike Friendly Roads. Austin has 3 awesome lakes. Lake activities are very popular. Wake boarding, water skiing or just hanging out on a boat. There is also very child friendly areas around the lake as well. If you have a dog, it will love life in Austin. I think the most pet friendly place ever. There is also many safe and easily accessible neighborhoods. Austin housing market is also something BOOMING!! Buying property in Austin will PAY BIG!!!! Especially high rises. But all is doing great. Food is pretty good here too. MEXICAN FOOD YUM-MM SF is great but to expensive. I would say very comparable if weighing pros and cons.

  • Austin is 100% better than San Francisco in quality of life, schools, culture and there_s lots of outdoor activity. Good Luck.

  • I have never been to San Francisco, but Austin is a family friendly city. I have been here for 20yrs.

  • Look up the demographics at Best Places to Live:

    http://www.bestplaces.net

  • Better learn to love the heat.
Beyond that Austin has everything you will want except major sports.

  • Austin is hot and humid but a great place to live....a major university...top notch college sports....housing is much less expensive....lots of outdoor activities...biking is big (Lance_s home town)...best of all, its never going to fall into the pacific ocean becuase of an earthquake!!
