What are the areas surrounding Stanford CA?|184301

I_m going to be working at Stanford this summer and need to find a temporary residence. I_ve looked on Craigslist under the heading _SF Bay Area_, but a ton of different cities and neighborhoods pop up and I don_t actually know which ones are less than a half hour from Stanford (preferably). What are the surrounding areas and their relative distances?

Look under South Bay, Peninsula and Silicon Valley.
Search on Palo Alto, but stay away from East Palo Alto.

If you stay in Palo Alto, you can sublet someone else_s standard housing for the school year, and you will be near all the academic help, the sporting help and the social world.

The Stanford campus is surrounded by the city of Palo Alto. Menlo Park and Atherton are VERY close to the Palo Alto border, just North of Stanford. Mountain View is South of Palo Alto.

Stretching that _half hour_ limit, Sunnyvale and Cupertino are further to the South while Redwood City, San Carlos and Foster City and San Mateo are to the North.

East Palo Alto is fairly close, but has had a poor reputation for many years.

Anything further then San Mateo is going to be to far

Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View are the closest.

Los Altos, Sunnyvale, Redwood City are also close.
