What are towns w/ great school districts in North Jersey? And a quick commute to Manhattan?|193731

Our family is considering moving to NJ but both of us work in Manhattan. We are interested in knowing what the best school districts are in North Jersey. The more details, the better. Any thoughts?

  • Well, it_s generally acknowledged that the towns all along the north side of Route 4 on the Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge are lovely towns with good schools, and they_re only about 30 or so minutes from Manhattan!

So, look into Tenafly, Teaneck, River Edge, New Milford, Oradell, Dumont, Paramus, Fair Lawn, etc., etc., etc., and the further north of Route 4 you go, the more _upscale_ it is, all the way up to Alpine, which is the most expensive suburban town in the USA, with average home prices starting at 4.4 million!!

South of Route 4 it_s cheaper, but let_s just say, _You get what you pay for,_ and leave it at that.

Good luck, and the link below is to a map of the area...
