What is the best month to visit Kansas?|192175

My husband, our 9 month old daughter and I were going to take a vacation to visit a few friends in Kanasa. We were wondering what the best month would be to go. He is a farmer so we have to go in Jan, Feb or March. What is the weather like? And what are places we shoul maybe stop at or are a must to see?! The city we will be around is Great Bend. Thanks!

  • Out of the three, I_d say there_s really no difference. I live less than an hour from Great Bend, and the weather isn_t that different. As for places to visit, there_s a small zoo in Great Bend. You can also go down to Hutchinson and see the underground salt mine. In Dodge City is Boot Hill (historic Dodge City). There_s the giant well in Greensburg too.

  • I have relatives in Kansas and I would say the best month to visit is June.I guess that is not one of your options,so I would say go for march. The weather is perfect but not worm enough to go swimming. But is nice enough to go and see all the beautiful historical places they have over there. The also have a lot of hot springs over there. It can be fun indoor and outdoor.
    Good luck

  • Congrats on your upcoming trip to Kansas. I_ve been a lifelong resident and not too far from where you_re going.... I live in Wichita.

As for which month.... tough choice. I_d probably say March. Weather on the plains can change fairly quickly. I_d be keeping an eye on the weather channel.

The best part is that Kansas loves tourists. We have a great travel center which will help you prepare for your journey. I_ve included their website in my source.

As for what places to stop and see.... that_s kind of an individual thing. In Wichita we have Old Cow Town Museum as well as a ton of other museums. I prefer the odd and unusual. There are dozens of books about individual cities and what they have to offer. I_d suggest checking out one or more of these.

As with any traveling, please check and see what fairs and festivals are happening during the time of your visit. Some of these are the best Kansas has to offer.
