  • Santa Monica is best place to hang out and _network_. Check Craigs List for Los Angeles. See what is available. Perhaps caring for someone disabled in the home. Your language skills are very important. UCLA, huge university, check out their daily Bruin newspaper for jobs. They may have something on line. People are often looking for someone to tutor in languages. Perhaps the convention center or tours to use your languages.(Universal city, Getty Center) Think of voluteering at the Getty to make contacts and network to find a job. Find a place to live near Little Korea. Use the red buses to get to West part of town quickly. Start with the youth hostels in Venice beach. Start communicating with students from out of country to see if you can get some kind of group or shared living.
Decide why you want to come and what you want to accomplish.Even be willing to work for free so people can see what you do and who you are. Huge numbers of people are being laid off here, but do not give up if this is your passion.

  • Make sure you have at least a months expences available once you get to CA. Before you get there, try to get job interviews setup so that you can hit the ground running. Figure out what part of CA you want to live in. California has many different types of environments. Big City (Los Angeles/San Diego/Long Beach), Party Towns (Chico, San Francisco/San Diego/ L.A.), Rural (Bakersfield, Sanoma, Poway, Tulare), Dessert (Palmdale, Lancaster, Anatelope Valley), Costal (Santa Monica, Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Barbera, San Francisco, San Diego), and Activist (San Francisco, Berkley).

Good luck. Just remember that California is one of the most expensive states to live in. If you are strapped for cash now, I would move to a cheaper state like Arizona, Nevada or Texas, save up and then move to California.

  • Look up _TN Visa_ on line. If you have one of the qualifying degree and are a Canadian Citizen, you may easily work in Canada. If you do not have a qualifying degree, it is next to impossible to come here other than by marrying a US citizen. And do note that the US has lost over 2,000,000 jobs this year. Nobody is hiring right now. Specially not sales people.

  • You can work here if you are hired from a Company cause you have particular skills. However Canadian Citizens have different ways. You need to contact the Canadian Consulate in California and ask them what you can do and how.
