How do you get a job at the White House?|100448

Now I don_t mean being president, I mean actually working for the upkeeping of the mansion, history and preservation of the mansion. How do you get into that field and get that job?

There are two types of jobs at the White House: political (meaning that you are appointed by the President) and civil service. I believe that the maintenance jobs are all civil service. I also believe that the US General Services Administration is responsible for maintaining the White House, and probably fills those jobs.

Particularly since 9/11, all people who work at the White House have to go through a rigorous security screening.
