What places to visit in American states?|169061

Myself and a friend are planning on traveling all the American states in a few years time. Are there any places that anyone thinks we should definitely visit?

Get a book that tell you the most popular tourist attractions and a good map and go for it. There are alot of things to see here. I would want to see Mount Rushmore and the Grand Canyon and Hollywood and especially Four Corners. Oregon is fantastic as is Colorado. New York City would be good. I took an RV trip with my daughter for a year and we toured the U.S. The only place I wouldn_t bother with is the South. Atlanta and Charleston were pretty but most of it was sad. It was ugly as well as very unkind people who still think and act as they did before the emancipation proclamation. Most of the mid west is just open flat country with very little to see. But if you get a good book you can pick and choose where to go and what to see.

New York and Los Angeles are cool places to visit as far as big cities.
The redwoods in California.

Grand Canyon in Arizona, YellowStone National Park in Wyoming.

Miami, Florida. (the State of Florida has most of
the theme parks like DisneyLand, and so on, but Miami is quite a unique city)

Las Vegas (the oasis in the desert) Great for gambling, and other entertainment.

Chicago, Illinios.

The entire west coast.

The Entire east coast..... but the west coast is nicer and more picturesc in my opinion. Google the Pacific Coast Highway.

If you can afford it, I would recommend renting a car and traveling around to multiple locations throughout the country, but that would also require a ton of time, as well as money.

Plan your trip around National Parks. You_ll get to see a lot of American history and heritage as well as beautiful natural landscapes, etc. They tend to be inexpensive places to visit and you can get a National Parks Passport for 8 bucks and fill it with passport stamps along the trip so you_ll have a souvenir when you_re all done!

A trip visiting all 50 states will take a LONG time - the US is HUGE, and Alaska and Hawaii are very far-flung.

There are guidebooks that will describe the various attractions and sights in all the US states, as well as on-line sources. Each state has a department of tourism, so you could search _[name of state] tourism_ to get leads to info. Fodor_s and Frommer_s have printed and on-line guides to various states and countries.

If you decide to visit New York state, e.g. Niagara Falls, be sure and look into the Finger Lakes region of central NY. It was recently named the best lake destination in the world! It_s beautiful and quiet.

Michigan. we have the great lakes Lake michigan has the best beaches and a beautiful shore line. we also have over 300 waterfalls. The upper peninsula is breath taking. You need to see the upper Tahquamenon Falls and see Lake Superiors Pictured rocks National Lake Shore you have to do the boat cruise and go see The Porcupine Mountains also known as Lake of the Clouds

I_ll agree, NYC is definitely great to see, but Chicago is also quite amazing. and of course the surf on the oceans. Best places for that - Miami and Santa Monica. I_m quite jealous of your trip but I hope you have the best time!

well, i_ve driven from California to Vermont and i can tell you the west coast is nice, the east coast is nice, New England is nice, and everything in between is a sh!t hole. don_t bother with the mid west, the south, or Florida.

depends what your used to now.
i reccomend new york city though!or los angeles.but those places might be too in-your-face becasue of the fast-pace life.

How early should I get to a concert at Verizon Wireless Amitheatre in Irvine?|101622

I_ve never been to this venue, and i_m unsure of how early I need to be there. It_s assigned seating, so how much time in advance should I be there before the concert _starts_ according to the tickets?

Get there about an hour early because the line gets pretty long since they search people before entering. Most of the seating is assigned but if you have the lawn seats then they are not. It is just a lawn area at the very top where you stand

If it_s assigned seating, so no worries. I think allowing an hour to park and get to your seat is enought time.

Where are the best places to watch fireworks in Las Vegas?|189104

I am going to Las Vegas for the 4th of July and I have no clue as to where to go to watch fireworks or see concerts or whatever they have going on for the weekend. I would love to find a site that list events that will be happening then. Any Suggestions?

The fireworks in Las Vegas on July 4 are all off the Strip, in public parks or neighborhoods. If you have a car, drive east to the Mormon Temple and you_ll be able to see the entire valley and all of the fireworks.

As for concerts, check out whats-on.com. It lists everything that_s going on in Las Vegas, including concerts.

Sorry but they stopped shooting fireworks for the fourth a couple of years ago. Even on New Years they changed from shooting the fireworks from the top of the hotels to the ground level behind them. A real flop. Better they didn_t shoot them. Thank you Clark County Fire Dept. There is nothing special to celebrate on the strip.

What are the pros and cons of moving to a different state?|100201

Like do you warrants follow you. Tickets, warrants, bills that are owed, your credit report, etc and etc. what ever you can think of.

How long do you have to leave a state till all of your tickets have disappeared, and how long does it take for things on your credit to disappear.

I am thinking of moving from Texas to Florida.

Th obvious pros are it will give you a fresh start and hopefully one that will be successful.

Yes, warrants can follow you, and NO arrest isn��t likely unless it is convenient to hold and transfer you.

And if it is for a traffic violation, it can_t be used to impact your insurance rates since it is still technically a pending matter that you haven_t been found innocent of guilty of. But the outstanding warrant is technically an entirely new crime and you are a fugitive using the pure definition.

There isn��t anything to prevent you from being arrested in a different state but unless it is for a felony, you won��t be taken into custody.

The typical practice is mis-demeanor warrants aren��t extradited while felonies qualify for taking a fugitive into custody to be held for authorized and suitable transfer and transportation back to the issuing jurisdiction.

Extradition requires a formal process of the suspect waiving their rights of ppposing extradition since you��re entitled to oppose the transfer if you can demonstrate suitable reasons of why you shouldn��t be returned to the issuing jurisdiction.

If you default on your payments your accounts will likely move into the hands of a collection agency or ��law firm��.
Either way they still have to follow the law in order to force you to pay.
This means taking you to civil court to obtain a judgment.

I know the entire Badlands goes a long way, but is there anywhere I can use in a book I_m writing where my character can go down the Wall (the cliff) onto the Badlands, and walk across a distance of, say, 4 miles?

Where do people go to buy basic stuff in New York?|116059

I just moved into New York and was planning on going to Walmart or Target to get some basic living stuff (towels, blankets, laundry detergent, body wash, pillows etc.) Except after asking around I realized that New York doesn_t have either one of these stores. The stores that were reccomended to me didn_t really meet my needs (mostly just grocery stores). So, where am I supposed to go to find cheap living stuff for my empty apartment?

PS. I live around the Columbia University area.

Just go down Broadway around 113th street. You will begin to find stores that sell you the basics there. A good coffee shop on the corner, a jazz club nearby. You are in a good area.

I ws just in NY and saw a Kmart right next to the Penn Station which is at the 33 rd Street, right by the Madison Square Gardens. I think during a previosu trip I also noticed a PierOne on the 5th avenue and they have quite reasonably priced house stuff.

There is a Target in Queens I think. If you made it to the internet just do a search.

Be glad New York areas have the sense to keep WalMart out of their boroughs !!! WalMart is a money grubbing corporation that does NOT care about people, only dollars. Don_t spend your money in places that don_t care about you or the world and the planet you live on.

They have everything and are very cheap. I once got cargo pants for $7 .

Most people get stuff from Duane Reade.

They are everywhere.

For other things, like towels, blankets, etc, take the bus EAST on 116th St till you hit Spanish Harlem. Try Third Ave to Second Ave. Anything near Park and Lexington is still a bit scary.

There are tons of little stores that will give you all you need--from home furnishings to furniture.

Don_t be afraid to explore.

Just follow the Mexican families with the strollers. You_ll find the best bargians in town, as well as some of the best food in town.

116th Street is the New Delancy. True New Yorkers will know what I mean.

What is the best family friendly communitiy, to reside in, around Atlanta?|199135

My job will be in the downtown area and I am fully aware of the treacherous commute. What I am looking for, are details on decent school districts (I have children in grade school on up), and reasonable real estate prices (where will my money go the furthest). Any information on property taxes would be helpful. I am willing to commute 45 minutes outside the city if necessary. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Roswell or Johns creek. Both are low crime and close drive to downtown area. Should be no more than 30 minutes with bad traffic. The only down side is housing is really expensive. Roswell ranked 17th in the nation for safest city. Johns creek is a new city that was recently formed, but is the wealtiest city in the state.

go as far away from atlanta as possible

My sis lives in Sugar Hill and loves it. It is a very family friendly community with kids playing all over the neighbourhoods. The schools are pretty good. My nephew is reading on a 5th grade level in the second grade, which is definately helped by his teachers.

But the commute is BRUTAL!

My aunt has lived in alpharetta and canton and when i visit her there are many kids around to play with and . Im not sure about prices but i know that they are great areas right outside atlanta hope i could help

Decatur is about 15 minutes from downtown (30 in rush hour), it is a nice area inside the perimeter, with nice houses and a good school district (City schools of Decatur). It have a cute square with stores and restaurants around, also is connected by the train/subway to downtown.
Another option is Marietta in Cobb county, in the north west part of Atlanta, just 30-40 minutes from downtown. I hear that the school system is one of the best, specially in East Cobb.
