What is the cheapest way to move from California to Washington (about 950 miles)?|139247

im going to college and living with some family so im just bring a bookshelf, a kinda big tv stand, a moped, and about 10 boxes. iv checked with companies like U-Haul and they are too expensive. anyone have any ideas?

  • You have three basic options when moving, you_ll have to consider what_s best for you and compare rates:

    1. Pods- Basically it_s portable storage. You load them, the company will deliver them for you. This could be cheap enough option. To find sizes and rates, try the following link:

    2. Rental trucks- You load and unload, you drive. This is more expensive one-way (interstate) than it is for round trip because the price you pay will cover their expenses of bringing the truck back to its original location. To find out rates and availability check the following link:

    3. Moving company- Prices will vary depends on the company although they normally work by a pretty standard basic tariff. You can use one of the directories listed in the link below to receive several free quotes in one submission with no obligation:

Or you can look for movers by state:

  • U haul or other rental companies offer better round trip rates than one way. If you have checked one way only - check round trip. Also, many car rental companies rent pick-ups - that may be enough room for you.
Also, consider renting a big truck and sharing the cost with others.
