What air lines are best for larger people?|146789

I am look to travel and enjoy myself this summer. I am looking and trying to find out what air line would obe most comfortable if you are a larger person.

  • Any airline that has _first class_ but it won_t be cheap!.

  • I don_t know which airlines are best but I do have some suggestions as a fellow _larger_ person. I have found that some planes have larger seats now.

Book early and try to get your seat assignment for an aisle seat. Try to get the emergency row if possible (more room).

Try to fly when it is not busiest, you_ll most likely be able to have a seat between you and someone else or a whole row if possible. Get a seat belt extender from the flight attendant.

Fly first class if you can - guaranteed bigger seats, or you could purchase 2 seats (which may in fact be cheaper than first class if done early enough). Make sure you read all of the rules (in case the flight is overbooked).

Let the flight attendant know early that you_d like to move to a more comfortable seat if available.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.

  • My uncle is a pretty large guy and also has a handicap and he and my aunt always fly Ted. He says the seats are a little bigger and leg room is better. I_m a little heavy and just flew out on Southwest. There were no first class seats on our planes (I don_t believe Southwest has them) and their seats were pretty small. The plane was packed so we were packed in like sardines! Even my hubby, who_s average, felt pretty cramped, so I_d try to stay away from Southwest.

  • I agree with most of what the first poster said with regard to tips. My husband is a bigger guy and we suffered on our last 5 hour flight to Vegas...however, on the way home, we upgraded to Business Class and had a lot more room and were much happier.

If possible, try using a smaller airline that may require you to take a connecting flight - typically, they_re less expensive than the big name airlines and will sometimes offer upgrades for little to nothing (we upgraded to BC for $80 each on the way home, but they offered it to Vegas for only $60 - we should have done that!!)

  • Good Luck getting out of Las Vegas. I and my family were in Vegas over New Year_s. WATCH OUT for Delta. They cancel flights....... We were stuck there for 3 days........

  • To be the most comfortable for you and other passengers either fly first class or book 2 coach seats.
