What is the closest beach to Philadelphia?|192846

I may be moving to Philly from California and would love to know if there are any decent beaches within a couple of hours (or less?) drive. Thanks!

  • The Atlantic City expressway will get you to the Boardwalk _ Casinos in AC in about 65 miles from the Walt Whitman Bridge. There is also a train service From Philadelphia by NJ transit _ Amtrak to the AC Train station near the New Convention center. Fast, cheap and skips the traffic. Private Bus tours to Casinos leave for AC Daily from vaious locations. From AC you can travel to many other shore towns. However Only AC and Wildwood have free beaches. All others have a fee. There are beaches in Delaware, but you would still travel 60-70 miles.

  • the NJ shore.. wildwoods then the other surronding shores (cape may, stone harbor, AC, ocean city nj, north wildwood, avolon, etc.).. about 1 1/2 hours or so drive from philly depending which shore line you go too

  • LBI is actually the closest not Atlantic city.
( long beach island) 40 minutes away.

  • in case u havent heard, theres a flood going on right now

  • Philly is perfect. Atlantic City area beachs are an hour away. And all along route 9 (another 1and half hours) are plenty of beaches, resorts, boardwalks, and so forth.
