What is the name of the 8-story tower near the Gettyburg National Battlefield?|106660

I visited Gettyburg with my class this past week and we climbed an 8-story tower near the battlefield. What is it called?

  • The park service constructed a number of towers on the battlefield near the end of the 19th century. It certainly wasn_t the National Tower you saw because in 2000, the Gettysburg National Tower, built in 1974, was imploded.

_An observation tower overlooking the Gettysburg battlefield was demolished Monday by the Interior Department in a major step toward restoring the site to the way it looked during the Civil War._

The 307-foot National Tower at Gettysburg was dubbed an _eyesore_ by Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, who was on hand late Monday for the toppling, accomplished with just a few pounds of explosives.

Makes no difference what it was called, it_s just not there anymore!! Consequently it could not have been the one that is being ask about.

  • when i was there they called it the battle field tower.

  • I think its the National Tower constructed under the Gettysburg National Military Park Survey.
