Can a tourist use their drivers license while visiting the US?|111976

Hi, a friend of mine from Mexico is staying in Iowa for a couple of weeks for work training. She wants to rent a car and come to visit me to Minnesota during the weekend. She has her valid drivers license from Mexico with her, but we were wondering if this is all she needs or she needs to get some other kind of permission, if so, how and where to go? Thanks in advance.

She should also get an International Drivers License. And IDL is only valid when accompanied with a driver_s license issued by the owner_s home jurisdiction. It will have all of the information on it translated into English, so a police officer in this country would be able to read it.
