What are some activities in Boston to do relating to Spanish culture?|110459

My school_s Spanish National Honor Society wants to go to Boston for a day trip and we need to find some activites related to Spanish or Latino culture. Some suggestions have been to go see a foreign film (ideas of any theaters showing one)? Or a good spanish restaurant? Or any festivals, stores, or ANYTHING that is fun and has to do with spanish culture. Please don_t suggest google, because I have tried. thanks =] !

  • go to east boston there are many spanish/mexican restaraunts there

  • You might try to arrange a visit to the Spanish Consulate in Boston. There is also a group interested in Spanish language and culture. Information is below. The Consulate_s website is under construction, so your best bet is to call.

  • Spanish restaurants: Dali in Cambridge

    - it is AWESOME!

    Or Tapeo on Newbury Street
    http://www.tapeo.com/home/
    - also fabulous! Other stuff to do would depend on when you will be there.

There is another place called Barlola that has flamenco dancing every Sunday - perhaps they could put on a special performance

There will be a Flamenco Festival in February at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theater -

The Museum of Fine Arts mfa.org has several Spanish paintings in its collection

They will have a Spanish painting exhibit starting in April:
    El Greco to Velazquez:
Art during the Reign of Philip III
    Sunday, April 20, 2008 - Sunday, July 27, 2008

Then, you could go to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum just around the corner
    http://www.gardnermuseum.org/.
There is a great painting in the entryway, or _Spanish Chapel_, by John Singer Sargent called El Jaleo

    - it is of a Spanish dancer. A bit of a stretch, I know - but that is a really neat museum and it is the site of one of the most famous art heists.

Now, the East Boston suggestion is good, but that is more Latin American than from Spain.
