How do you save gas money on a long road trip?|109764

We are going from northeast Tennessee to Mobile Al to Austin Tx, possibly through Memphis and back to Tennessee. Please help!!!

  • Make sure your oil/filter is fresh ... that saves on gas (which reminds me, I have to change my oil!), and your tires are properly inflated.

Also, not going too far over the speed limit; but tailing semis is not really a good idea. In order to feel the effects of their draft, you have to drive real close ... to close to be safe.

Here are a couple of sites that have good tips (good for everyday driving, too):

  • Do the speed limit and stay behind the semi trucks. The draft helps pull you along and saves a little on the gas!!

  • I found the best way to save gas is to install a hydrogen kit. I got 40-60% better millage on my car when it was installed. I cost me $60 to make. Great report on it with videos here,
