Hello, can anyone help me out to pick a nice weekend gateway around Chicago?|107438

I_m planning a short weekend vacation like a surprise for my wife, we live around Chicago and i would like some advices, a destination no more that 3 or 4 hours from Chicago, Thanks.

  • Even though I am a California girl, I was born in Chicago and lived there for 5 years. The Navy Pier is absolutely incredible. They have adorable little shops and interesting information on its history. If you want a classy hotel, the Raffaelo hotel is one of the finest. Tons of amenities, 4 and a half stars, beautiful classic architecture....it is just amazing. Plus, on hotels.com, you can get an incredible room for as little as $150 a night! The John Hancock Center is ddefinitelyworth seeing, and it has a free entry! Of course, Michigan Avenue and Rush Street are nice to see and shop on. Lastly, Grant Park is very pretty, and is fun just to stroll around in!

  • Try Galena, IL...cute trendy shops...creative activities! www.galena.com
  • How long would it take for a package to come, from Georgia to New Jersey?|139733

I have a Wii and a Ps3 coming from my relative in Georgia and I live in New Jersey. I want to know when they send my two systems about how long would it take and if you know Ups or DHL_s times that would be nice too. Anyways I mainly want to know an estimated time.

  • UPS or DHL times would simply depend on what kind of shipping speed it was sent at. It could be overnight, or 3 or 4 days.

If its regular US mail it will probably take 3 days from time it was shipped.

  • 3-4 days

  • 3 business days

We like to stay at any of the Joie de Vivre properties....they are all boutique hotels. The website provides a good ovw. Notice the _neighborhood experts_ and opinions. Hotel Rex is closer to Union Square. Alcatraz tour is really worth checking out...don_t spend too much time in Pier 39...it_s quite touristy.

  • Well if you see peir 39, just 100 feet from ther is the boat to alkatraz.. it_s actually an interesting bit of history if your into it. Check out cloit tower, Maybe the San Franciosco musium of art. Be carefull about the park. Don_t be in it after sunset. Alot of bad stuff happen in ther to people who dont_ know the area. Check out china town for a dash of asian culture as well as japan town. Go to little italy for italian area of san fran as well as russian hill. Check out north beach (do this the same day you do little italy) and see if you can find robin williams mansion along the water front! Go alittle beyone North Beach and see the golen gate. Take a ferry over to Saucilito and marin county for shopping and fun stuff. Lots of stuff to do and not enough time to do it!

  • I recommend to go to Sausalito _ Tiburon by bicycle, and come back from Tiburon by ferry with your bike. Many rental shops around the pier 39 and others. It was very nice!! Might take a day, but you can see the beautiful night view of the city of San Francisco from the ferry when you come back.

    Have fun!!

  • Man its know different from San Fiero,...theres alot to do out there!!

  • there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you the best prices available. just go here: http://cheapest-travel-ever.info/s3nn and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it_s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
  • What is the best state to live in and why?|112771

I live in California right now and I_m ready for a change but I don_t know where I want to go. We have a 2 year old so it has to be good for families.

  • Ignore the other states! Ha ha!

    North Carolina! Here_s why:

Great weather. Great people. Great historic areas. Beautiful. Schools are decent. The private ones are very good. (And you can get a massive house for a third of the price of a California home.)

The Midwest is pretty dang flat. If you like mountains or hills the Midwest will bore you to tears. (Sorry) I have family there. Love them, but not so much on the flatness.

New York is full of options as well. Virginia is a great state.

Those are the three I_d suggest.

For schools, here_s a page the ranked each state:

    http://www.morganquitno.com/edrank.htm

Oh yeah... Gonna have to throw in the New England states too.

Guess you_re going to have to do some traveling!

  • There are ohio and washington dc

  • Colorado, great weather, friendly people, good schools

    http://www.townofcastlerock.org

  • Tennessee!!!!!!! Go Vols!!!!!!!!!!

  • New Hampshire- It has mountains, forests, and beaches. It is driving distance to Boston where you can enjoy city life and the best hospitals in the world, but far enough away so that most towns are rural and the school systems are excellent for kids. It has a low crime rate, no income or sales tax, and property is cheap compared to other Northeastern states.

  • Canada!!! Go Medicare!!! :D

  • orlando florida!

  • Any state in the upper midwest would be good for you. School systems are above average. There is adequate open space, parks, and recreation. Crime is not so bad. Climate is moderate and the spring is gorgeous. People are generally easy-going and tolerant. No matter where you live in California, the upper midwest will be a change.

  • Connecticut!
it is so beautiful here, with plenty to do!
the school systems are AMAZING! i really do recommend it
we are close to new york city, which is nice for shopping, lunch, or even a sporting game!

  • Wisconsin is nice; most of the people are not extremely liberal nor extremely conservative (most people are moderate.) Wisconsin is also the number 1 state for education, which would be great for your child. There_s also the Great Lakes right next door for a vacation, and we have the Wisconsin Dells; if you_re not familiar with it, its the largest group of water parks in the United States. We also have Badgercare; a health care program for those unable to afford it. And, let us not forget...the Pack! A good, honest, hardworking football team who ARE going to the Superbowl this year!

All in all, Wisconsin is a great state. Don_t let us choose where you live though; try to do some research on the Internet, in books, anywhere you can. Its an important decision, not something to be taken lightly.

    Good luck!

  • NY ...everyTHING happens here....
california...MAYBE 2nd...but nothing compares to NY! and everyone knows it...even people who live in other states...EVEN PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN OTHER COUNTRIES...bascially..THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS IT!

    GOOOO GIANTSSSSSSSSS!

  • You have just got to try Arkansas. Great weather, great schools, great people and the Razorbacks

  • NY!
    it is where everything happens
    oh yeah!!
  • Can someone suggest a good motel along the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Tx that has a inroom hottub?|107040

Me and my wife are going on vacation and I have looked and can_t seem to find any with a in the room hottub.

Thought maybe someone on here can suggest a good place along the Riverwalk.

  • The Watermark Hotel on the Riverwalk has Spa rooms and Suites. I_m not sure of any others.

EDIT: As Lalana has mentioned the Jackson House B_B is extremely nice but is not on the Riverwalk, however the owners of the Jackson House have 2 other B_Bs the Oge House and the Carriage House which do back the Riverwalk though are not close to the restuarants and clubs. They are all nice. You can find more information at

    www.nobleinns.com

  • Jackson House
    $125 to $200, San Antonio

Built in 1894, this B_B has elegant Victorian decor. Guests can linger in the conservatory, surrounded by Victorian stained-glass windows or unwind in the heated swim-spa. Kids under 14 and smoking are not permitted. Some rooms have hot tubs.

Address: 107 Madison St., San Antonio, TX 78204, USA
    Phone: 210/225-4045 or 800/221-4045
    Fax: 210/227-0877
  • Is it possible to rent a hotel near Six Flags when everyone is of age 18?|104949

A couple of friends and I are heading to Six Flags for the weekend, and we_re trying to rent hotels/motels/inns in the area to stay overnight. Are there any places in the area that would let 18 year old stay?

  • I would try calling like a red roof inn or something like that. Some hole in the wall place. You aren_t going to get a 4 star hotel because most of them have mini-bars and it_s too much of a pain in the ars to make sure that you don_t open the mini-bar, make sure you don_t order alcohol through room service, or at the bar itself. Go with the like, at max, 80 room properties. Don_t book through Hotels.com like the idiot above me said. The hotel has every right to refuse you when you_re trying to check in. You won_t be charged for the room (more than likely) but you can be. Also, you_ll be in the same situation you are now.... stuck with nowhere to go. :-p

  • You are an adult now. Sure. All hotels should if they want business.

  • Check Hotels.com.
