What are the best cities in northern new jersey to live?|116338

Im moving to New Jersey in a few month and was wondering what are the best cities in northern new jersey. I would love a place that has low crime rate and is affordable. Also I would like to know the places I should stay away from. Thanks!!

  • New Jersey is expensive anyway you cut it but here are some towns that are nice to live in, not as expensive as other areas, and have low crime rates:

South Amboy, Woodbridge, Milltown, South River, North Brunswick, Matawan, Morganville, Piscatway, Howelle, Bayanno, Clinton, Livingston, Oldbridge, North Plainfield (stay away from Plainfield) and Edison all have fairly low crime rates and can be unexpensive if you know how to apartment hunt.

Stay away from: Hoboken (too expensive), North Bergen (expensive and a **** hole), West Orange, Perth Amboy, Union City, Keasby, Keansburg, and parts of Jersey city (most of these place have high crime rates. Elizabeth, Newark have nice areas but also have some really crappy areas as well. New Brunswick is unexpensive but it is also a college town so unless you have no problem waking up to your curb covered in puke, don_t move there.
