I am going to be travleing to new york with my aunt in december. I_ve never been, and not sure how much money I should bring. And this would not be including hotel or such. I_m trying to figure out how much I need for food and shopping.
Any sugestions?
Thanks!
Try to bring a pre-paid Credit Card, Like the Visa Gift Card (you can buy it for yourself with cash).
Have some cash, Pretzel _ Hot Dog vendors use only cash.
Ya can_t come to New York with out geting a pretzel and hot dog from a cart, can you ?Bring AS MUCH money as you can! New York is awesome, and the shopping is INCREDIBLE. You will see SO MANY things that you want, and many things are inexpensive. Go to Canal Street, and there you can buy really cool things from street vendors. When I was 16, I bought the cutest black coat from Canal Street, and I got so many compliments from it.
Just save up all the money that you can.the last time i went i brought 3,000 dollars with me but i_m a shopper and so the money just went to bloomie_s and othersIf you_re going shopping you_re going to have to bring A LOT more then $500. Yes, it depends on where you go but once you see all the stuff there is to buy you won_t be able to control yourself.
And if you_re out to eat you really need more then $500. But you_re going need a lot more money for shopping then you need for food. I say start saving your money and doing extra stuff around the house because your going need it. And have a great time in New York.$500.00 should be fine.a freekin LOT! aka as much as you can its about the most expensive city in the worldIf you are not paying for the hotel, just food and shopping, I would figure on $50 a day for food, and at least as much for shopping. The shopping could go higher or lower depending on what you intend to buy. Clothing will be expensive, souvenirs can be cheap.
Be sure to visit the United Nations. The gift shop in the basement floor is tax exempt, and has stuff from all over the world. You could do a lot of your shopping there and save some money. Being there in December means it will be crowded like you won_t believe, but also assures every country on Earth will be stocking the store. And the UN in general is worth a visit. Have fun.Welcome to NYC, it_s not how much cash you spend. It_s what you see _ remember forever.
Take lots of Pic_s with you and your aunt in them of course.

Real Cool Gadgets see web link below 5 stars don_t missShopping _ eating in NYC as a visitor, you_ll spend $500 in two days...i_m a native new yorker, and have traditionally held careers in tourist-centric places, like Times Square, and currently Grand Central Terminal. The shopping in New York is expensive anyway, but they especially target visitors with amazing _ unique deals and wares that you may not be able to resist. The food is expensive too....if you_re buying-out three proper meals a day in Manhattan, expect to spend at least $50 per day.
I_d say bring at least $1000, if you_re not a big shopper or momento seeker. If you are, than I_d say double/triple that amount. Unless you practice severe self-restraint and budget eating, $500 won_t be enough for you to enjoy yourself.I do not recommend carrying a sizable amount of cash.
Do you have a Credit card or ATM card that you can use?
This would be the best way to manage what you spend. If not, then Travelers Cheques are ok, but to decide on what amount of money to bring is almost impossible without knowing what you will be doing for 5 days. Shows can be expensive, some restaurants are, too, and of course souvenirs are not cheap, either. If you plan on really shopping (and you might if you come from a small place) and going out to eat you will be needing a lot more than 500 bucks. I_m from NY but I_m in the military now so I_m away from home, whenever I go back I spend over 2,000 in 2 weeks and that_s not doing or going to the tourist area. Have fun!!!!!
