What is the best state to travel to in the US?|176247

My boyfriend and I are gonna ge taking a road trip by the end of the month. What do you think is the most exciting state to go to? I want to do a lot of sight seeing. BTW we live in NJ.

  • My favourite is Vermont. If you travel Vermont, you can do side trips into several other New England States, at the same time.

  • My favorite state in which to travel is California. California has everything you could want all in one state. CA has mountains, deserts, big cities, small towns, beaches, the Pacific Ocean, snow, rain, sun, sunbathing, skiing, surfing, and so much more.

Some _must see_ places in CA are:

San Francisco. The Bay area (and Monterey) are my favorites. When in San Francisco, visit the crookedest street in the world, Lombard St. (drive down it because it_s plenty of fun), ride a cable car, Chinatown (visit the Fortune Cookie Factory), Alcatraz, Fisherman_s Wharf, Muir Woods (north of S.F. for nature), Coit Tower (head to the observation deck for a beautiful view of the city), San Francisco Zoo, Cable Car Museum, and Golden Gate Park (de Young Museum, Buffalo Paddock, and S.F. Botanical Gardens).

Monterey: Visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium (it_s one of the best in the country), also take the scenic 17-mile drive in nearby Pebble Beach (it_s spectacular).

San Simeon: Visit Hearst Castle. They have plenty of tours to choose from and they_re all excellent. It_s a lovely place and the scenery is outstanding (the drive from Monterey on Highway 1 is like heaven on earth).

Los Angeles: Hollywood is a very interesting place. Visit Mann_s Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood Wax Museum, Walk of Fame, and Sunset Strip. You_ll get plenty of excitement in Hollywood. Also visit Griffith Park in L.A. in the evening for some star watching (the stars in the sky) at the observatory. You_ll get a beautiful view of L.A.

Catalina Island: Great place for a day trip out of Long Beach. Plenty of watersports (snorkling, parasailing), plus you can see free-roaming buffalo on the _Inland Island Tour_ and go on a _Glass Bottom Boat Tour._ Catalina island is plenty of fun.

Yosemite National Park: This is my favorite national park in the country. Yosemite is very scenic any time of year (I_ve been there all four seasons and the winter was great). You can see El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls, Half Dome, and so much more. They have free shuttle buses in the park that will take you wherever you want to go. They also have plenty of tours offered within the park which are worth taking. You_ll see and learn a great deal on these tours. The wildlife viewing is also excellent there.

Palm Springs: Take the Aerial Tram to the top and see the San Jacinto Mountains. It_s much colder at the top, so dress warm. You_ll see snow at the top this time of year. Palm Springs also has plenty of golf, casinos, and excellent nightlife. You_ll also want to visit Joshua Tree National Park and Indian Canyons. They are both very scenic. Indian Canyons have gigantic palm tress you must see.

    Have fun in CA!

  • I live in Pittsburgh, there_s a lot to see in our corner of the country. You can see Washington DC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania_s Amish Country, Wonderful Pittsburgh, Niagara Falls, New York_s Finger Lakes, New York City and back to Jersey. Everything I mentioned is less than 4 hours from the thing mentioned before it.

  • A lot depends on how far you can go, how much you can spend, and the types of things that interest you. Some of my favorite places that I_ve visited: Dry Tortugas National Park (FL), Mammoth Caves (KY), Cass Scenic Railroad (WV), Gettysburg (PA), Golden Spike NHS (UT), Yellowstone _ Grand Teton NP (WY), Seattle, Washington DC,.......

My oldest son and I are going to South Dakota for a long weekend in April and I can_t wait, cause I_ve never been there before! Anyplace new is exciting!

  • its all subjective. i like montana. someone else may like florida. another may like michigan. it all depends on what you are interested in doing.
