Whats the best transporation to and from midtown east and Newark airport?|112887

I_m flying into Newark on a Friday at 2:00 pm. How long will it take to get into the city? What_s best - taxi, shared shuttle, or the Olympia bus. I_m flying with my mother and our hotel is about a block away from Grand Central Terminal. We_re not expecting to have too much baggage, but most likely one big roller each.
Also need advice on traveling the day before Thanksgiving (yes the busiest travel day of the year). How long should we expect it to take to get to the airport? Our flight is at 1:00 pm. Is it best to cough up the bucks and take a taxi?

Thanks in advance your help!

  • Take the Olympia bus, by all means! It takes you right to Grand Central and you can walk from there. (if your suitcase is on wheels) This is the cheapest option and i do not think it tkaes me much longer than a taxi... just a few minutes to wait for it to leave.. after that, just 40 minutes.
Ithink the Thanksgiving thing is a myth... yes, go early for security purposes, but i never find car traffic any worse for to/from airport. The buses are adjusted for traffic volume.. so a busier day of the year means more buses leaving more often. If you get to the Olympia desk and they say the next available bus is an hour off, then obviously, yes, go for the taxi.. but you will be fine. There are a lot of buses leaving frequently.
