How long does it take to get out of Midway airport from the moment the plane lands?|181261

OK, I need to plan a trip and I want to know how much time it takes from the moment the plane lands till I get out of the airport. Thanks

  • Do you mean until the time you walk out of the door of the airport or get to downtown Chicago? Big difference. To get out of the actual airport and onto the sidewalk you have to wait for the plane to pull up to the gate and everybody to get out of the plane (about 15-20 mins), then go down to the baggage area and wait for your bags to come down (about another 30 minutes or so), then walk upstairs and out of the airport (12-15 minutes), so figure on anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. Now if you_re talking about getting to downtown Chicago, you can take an Orange Line CTA train instead of driving. That will cut down on the time but still take about 35-45 minutes. So figure that it will take you about an hour and a half to get from the plane to downtown Chicago.

  • Getting to the bus station will add a little more time. You have to take the orange line to Adams, get off, walk about two blocks west to the Blue line subway, take it to the Clinton stop, get off and go upstairs, then walk one block south to the Bus terminal.

  • Alot less then that mess up north, O_hare!

  • 45 minutes up to 2 hours

  • There_s really no actual way of knowing the exact time it will take. Sometimes it_s taken 40 mins, sometimes it_s taken over an hour... It just depends.

edit: I used to travel past Midway every day on the way to my internship...traffic wasn_t always THAT bad... Just usually around major travel holidays.

  • Depends on the time of day and where you are going.

I got in last Friday night, and didnt get out of the actual airport area for almost an hour. I didnt get to my hotel for almost an hour and a half.

The traffic around Midway can be heredous at peak times.
