Organizing a walk to raise awarness and $ for epilepsy- walk across the united states from san fran to dc?|163582

My friend and I want to walk across the US to raise $ and awarness to find a cure for epilepsy.How do I go about organizing and finding sponsers for an event like this? We would also nedd a SAG wagon or a support vehicle- any ideas thoughts or suggestions would help us tremendously!

my friend planned a walk form oregon to dc and did it plus more!!! Hers was for epilpsy as well...when she got close to dc, she was having so much fun, she headed south to fl and then up to new england before heading to the steps of the capital in DC...she sent an invitation to dinner to local nonprofit leaders, had her plan ready to prepared for them and they all showed up at the dinner. most could not help immensely but she left with 6k and met all kinds of incredible people along the way...she simply handed out a simple awareness sheet about her cause and had a simple laminated photo journal that grew along the way...as she met people, they called friends or family as well as news media in locations they knew that were on her itinerary and most places had a heads up that she was coming. Many people she met offered her a room or a couch or a dinner, some hotels offered her a room and a meal and She often stayed in churches and firestations but had a tent in case things did not work out. She always contributed by helpng with chores and was received well because she presented herself well. her friends and family mailed her stamps and phone cards and she stuck to her planned route so she could recieve mail at general delivery in cities she visited. She pushed a cart with her stuff on it and occasionally someone would transport her cart from one location to another. She kept it low key, never begged, was raising awareness not funds and was treated well. She walked about 2 years and still talks about it every day. She planned well up front.
