  • I am sorry to tell you that it is nearly impossible for U.K. citizens to immigrate to the U.S. if you have an immediate family member there, they may sponsor your application...this is called _family based immigration._ If you have a very rare and outstanding job skill...there is employment based immigration...difficult. There is a slight possibility of a temporary work permit if you are very skilled and can find an employer to give you a contract. The usual way people apply is through the Diversity Lottery Program. U.K. citizens are not currently eligible to apply thru this because the u.k is over their quota for this 5 yr. period. this program takes years, lots of money, incredible luck. There are many questions exactly like yours on Answers every day. There are thousands and thousands of people in the U.K. who want to live in America...and millions more world wide. Immigrating to America is probably the most difficult thing on earth to do. Nobody realizes the difficulties until they seriously look into it. Even people who came to America from the u.k 10 or more years ago, have told people on here that now it is almost impossible. You can hire an immigration lawyer...who will take your money and tell you what you can read for yourself. See site below to read about immigration and all the types of visas. you will find that they are extremely restrictive. Would be wise to consider a different goal.
