In the 18 and 1900_s, how did they try to cure illnesses such as cholera while they were on the trails to the West?

Lots of liquids and try to keep them warm and dry. Not much else to do. It they were unlucky enough to be around a _doctor_ they might get bled. Laudanum was popular.
