How hard was your adjustment from living in city to very rural, isolated place like Montana?|174326

I am a city girl, who thinks I would really like the serenity, safety, beauty, quietness, etc. of the beautiful state of Montana. However, I do love theatre, and festivals, and the convenience of living here at times. How difficult a time did you folks have out there in computer land who may have done such a thing? Was it culture shock? Do you regret doing it. Please list some of the highlights, and some of the disadvantages of your move. Thanks so much.

  • I lived in Wyoming for several years. Moved there from a rather large city in the Midwest.

If one is into outdoor recreation, then Wyoming and Montana are certainly both ideal places to live. Beautiful scenery. Excellent hiking-camping. Pristine wilderness areas.

The night skys are so clear one actually seems to be able to reach up and touch the stars.
Winters though to seem to come early and stay late. Makes it nice for skiiing and related snow activities.

When I desired the atmosphere of the bright lights and big city as a diversion was quite easy to just fly to those areas for a few days.

  • I cry ed for the first year. for my best friends, the food, the people, the lights, the buses. and then time went by and i just got use to it. smaller town. better place for kids, less people to deal with. even time seems to go slower. no i do not regret it. it was the best move i have ever done in my life. no culture shock. hope i helped you. some times you have to make that move.
