What do you wear at night in South Beach?|137998

My husband and I are going for the weekend at the start of December. We are planning to go out to eat and then go out to bars afterward. We will not be going to dance clubs. I_m 27, so I_m not trying to look like a teenager, either. How much do people dress up? What type of dress is appropriate? Also, any restaurant recommendations? Thanks!

  • i just came back on the 8th from miami and i got to say that south beach and all miami for that matter is all about how you look like. girls dress up in heels and dresses just to go to a shopping mall. so my advice is: the more you dress up the more you will fit in. try to keep it sexy too. a red halter dress or anything mini is definitely south beach.
as for recommendations to were to eat. any restaurant that is in Lincoln road is great (beware because all of the hostess will try to lure you into their restaurants with some type of 30% of your bill, free drinks, free appetizer then you get your bill and they charge you regular) also anything that is in espanola way (is like a big block of restaurants and little boutiques)its so pretty and romantic and you feel like you_re in this old 1930_s spanish town. also ocean drive has pretty food (but again they have those hostess that try to lure you)
also you and your husband should take a duck boat tour. its so much fun. its a land and water tour. they take you on a tour of all south beach(ocean drive, collins ave, washington ave, Lincoln road, and espanola way) then they take you on a tour of downtown miami. then they take you to see famous celebrities mansions on biscayne bay aka _star island_ or _millionaires row_

  • south beach is all about what you wear and what you look like, unfortunately. The bars are like nightclubs you have to be killer dressed to get in or look good. Most trendy places have you stand outside and they pick you to go in otherwise they wont let you in. For food i suggest prime 112 but good luck getting a table call now if you can. Otherwise try Casa Tua or Pelican Cafe on Ocean. For bars try Gansvort rooftop lounge or skybar. Hotel I like Pelican also because of the unique themed rooms check out their website, they are owned by Diesel jeans

  • I went 4th of july weekend... and i_m 25...most of the club hoppers were the ones who dressed up and wore heels.. and your feet will hurt!!!! (my friends walked to ocean drive so they wore cute flats) and dresses. the ones who just went to eat and went to bars they dressed a little more casual... many people wore flip flops cuz there is alot of walking, and wore jeans, or cute shorts and a nice dressy top. If it was me i would dress up at either place. To me Miami is more of a dress to impress type city day or night time. You dot have to be flashy just dress nice. Yeah the eating places are outside if you_re on south beach. and yes you get waited outside its really niceee!! Dress up!!

  • you should wear a dress... or something sparkly miami style is way behind places like nyc so things u might think are tacky are totally normal down there think cavavlli meets american apparel super tight and flashy. Everyone looks alot younger than they are esp the females so i dont think u have to worry about looking like teenager either. I would say a bebe dress does the job good. Personally I think the best restaurants in SOBE are Bondstreet (japanese), Prime 112 (make ur res early but great food and portions), Mr Chow (awesome chinese again u need a reservation in advance), and The forge (truns into a club on Wed, and sun nights great food and party). Barton G and Casa Tua are also good...Have fun !!
