What are some fun things to do in Texas this spring?|183996

We want to go for a 3 day weekend somewhere in Texas anytime between now and June. Are there any fun festivals? We_ve been to 6 flags, Festa Texas and Sea World already, we_re just looking for somthing different.

  • try Austin, or outside of Austin. There_s Shlitterbaun (sp?) water park and you can also go float down the river (Guadalupe I think)...that_s always fun. cant think of the town its in.

Also coming up is the Scarborough fair. Although I_ve heard the Renaissance festival in Houston is much better.

There is Speed Zone outside of Dallas off 35E.

My fave. are the rafting in the river...and not in Texas but Broken Bow Oklahoma has Kiaking and cabin camping. That was loads of fun.

    You have NASA in Houston

    good luck

  • Right now in Madison, Wisconsin it is 20 degrees F and snowing.

  • If you know about where you might want to go you could contact the Chamber of Commerce for the closest large city and they would most likely flood you with information, to include free or reduced cost coupons for a variety of events. Another possibility is to access the State of Texas website and on their home page look for links to the festivals and other events that might interest you. Yet another possibility would be to access the websites of the larger newspapers and look for links to the fun things. I live close to Houston and subscribe to their newspaper, The Houston Chronicle. Every season they publish a complete section on the stuff you seek. The newspaper websites should be easy to find through Google. If you haven_t been to Houston it would be worth a trip to see our sights which include NASA, Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Battleground Park (where Texas won its independence), Galveston Island, our baseball park, basketball arena, night life and so on. But if you come our way be sure, once again, to write or e-mail our C of C for information. Also, with the exception of Galveston, don_t come in the middle of the summer (July _ August). The heat and humidity are brutal that time of year. Have fun.

  • Rangle up some dawgies!

  • Do you like camping? there are some really nice sites in the hill country where you can go hiking there are also, cabins that you can rent. This is in central Texas close to Houston.

  • you can go to like a Dude Ranch or something. thats very different :D
