Is there any good shopping to do in new orleans during the essence festival?|170048

im supposed tobe going for the essence festival, and i was wondering will they have shopping malls there or vendors at the festival?

  • I_m sure they have vendors at the festival, though I_ve never been. But they do have LOTS of shopping. There_s the french market in the French Quarter, which is just one long open air market. Individuals come to sell there stuff, be ready to haggle. There is the Riverwalk , well, on the river, next to the aquarium. Then all along Decatur St. and N. Peters there are little shops. You can get local items, pralines, Cafe_ DuMonte mixes, Voodoo dolls, anything you can think of that you associate with New Orleans or Louisiana. Canal St is where the higher end stores are, Sacks, Norstrom, etc. Hope this helps, have fun.

  • Of course there is good shopping in New Orleans! The French Quarter is full of antiques, original artists, New Orleans art, and also tourist stuff. I know this was already mentioned, but Royal St, Decatur St, Jackson Square are good starting places.

Also, look on Magazine Street for loads of shopping. Same stuff as the Quarter but also specialty shops and unique shopping.

    Enjoy your trip!

  • The Riverwalk and Canal Place are the two shopping malls in the city center. There are many shopping malls in the suburbs, but you would need to drive or take a cab to them.

As the other answerers mentioned, the French Quarter and city center are full of places to shop within walking distance of downtown hotels.
