Is it socially acceptable for tourists to wear a sarong in Hawaii?|147131

I_m a guy, not a lady. I plan to wear a sarong, a t-shirt and kukui nut necklace my entire visit with board shorts underneath for hitting the waves, with Teva sandals?

What do you do with your sandals while you_re snorkeling? Where do you get those surf shoes that you can wear with your swim fins and avoid burning your feet?

  • Guys wear sarongs in Hawaii too. You might want to leave the Tevas in the car or room. Get a cheap pair of rubber slippers to go to the beach if you plan on leaving them to go snorkeling. Any ABC store or grocery store sells them. Longs Drugs...WalMart, etc...
Buy surf shoes at any store that sells snorkeling/scuba gear...Sports Authority has them. Lot of surfs shops carry it.
Keep safe and have a fun trip!

  • Hey phil-i-buster, thanks a bunch! You keep safe on your trip, and have a blast!
Another tip before going snorkeling, ask the life guards about the current. No matter where you go, the water may look calm on top, but you can get caught in the rip tide, gets people in trouble a lot.

  • Do what you like bro. And hang loose.

  • The sarong is fine (totally up to the person), but leave your expensive sandles at home. Plenty _rubbah slippahs_ at every ABC store!!! You will be right at home!!! Wear what you like an _hang loose like a goose, Hawaiian style_!!

    Alooooooooooha!

  • Please don_t wear a sarong or we_ll feel the results on the west coast. So many people will be boating toward the shore to take a picture of a guy in a sarong that it will probably cause a tsunami. Please...on behalf of all of us who like dry land to stay that way.
