How do I get from Port Jefferson Long Island to the Met using public transport?|104972

And can anybody give me an idea of the cost of this trip?

  • Take the LIRR to Penn Station. From Penn Station, you can either walk to Times Square (about 8 blocks) or take the 1/2/3/A/C/E train uptown one stop to Times Square. Take either the Shuttle or the 7 train to Grand Central. At Grand Central, take the 6 train to 77th St or the 4/5 train to 86th St. The museum is on 82nd Street and 5th Ave (when you get out of the subway, walk towards Central Park, you_ll pass Park Avenue and Madison Ave on your way there).

  • Here_s how to get form Port Jefferson to the Met by public transit.

Step 1: take the LIRR, from Pt Jefferson to Jamaica. The one way off peak fare will cost you $8.25. Please purchase your ticket before boarding, because fare are higher on board.

Step 2: at Jamaica, transfer to the subway. Take the Manhattan (westbound) _E_ train (Blue Line on the subway map) from Suphin Blvd/Jamaica Station to Lexington Avenue-53rd Street.

Step 3: at Lexington Avenue-53rd Street, transfer to the uptown (northbound) #6 train (Green Line), which will take you from 51st Street to 86th Street.

Step 4: at 86th Street, you have two option when you exit the subway station. You can either take the M86 bus westbound from Lexington Avenue and 86th Street to 5th Avenue and 84th Street, or you can follow the walking directions at the link below.

The fare on the subway is $2.25 each way ($4.50 round trip), transfer between the subway and bus at 86th Street is free.

I hope this information is very helpful.
