I want to visit California for holiday. Where should I visit and where should I stay?|103462

I know the theme parks in LA are a must.
Where are cheap places to stay that are comfortable?
Besides LA anywhere else you recommend?
Is it really difficult to get tickets to a Lakers game?

  • San Diego is also nice lots of theme parks there too. Sea World, Animal Park, Zoo, Lego-Land (only fun if you have young children). As for places to stay your best off looking at a hotel site like hotels.com because they have rating and customer reviews of hotels.

  • Sonoma. It_s a great city in the wine country. You can take wine tours, go horseback riding in the valley, visit little shops and boutiques, visit the missions, general vallejo_s home all sorts of stuff. Staying in a cozy bed and breakfast is great. Plus there_s a ton of spas! Sonoma is just one of the amazing places to stay in California.

  • Hi -- I don_t think those theme parks are a must at all. They are juvenile, expensive, and boring to any adult, in my opinion. Much more interesting to me would be any of these:

    1. Cultural sites -- ethnic communities in LA such as Little Saigon, Thai Town, Little Phnom Penh, East LA, Little Tokyo, Koreatown, Little Havana, Chinatown, Little Manila, and on and on. Our ethnic communities and foods are just wonderful!

    2. Venice Beach -- indescribably weird. Eye candy.

    3. Museums, all over LA. Just in the Pasadena area, about five, including the Huntington, Norton Simon, Contemporary, Asian, etc. Also the Getty, MOCA, LACMA for art, and many many specialty museums.

    4. Botanical gardens

    5. Architecture: modern and historic, including works by Frank Gehry and Frank Lloyd Wright. Wonderful guide books available. Walking tours and bus tours.

    6. Concert halls, like the Music Center, including Gehry_s magnificent Disney Hall.

    7. As you have mentioned, sports venues. Not sure about Lakers tickets (link below), but if not, try for a Dodgers game.

Many wonderful hotels in town. Decide based on the itinerary you plan. There is guaranteed to be more for you to do than you will have time for.

Enjoy our great and friendly town!

  • I_ve lived in CA my whole life, and have been almost everywhere in the state.

So the best advice I can give is it depends on the person. If you_re 18-25 and looking for fun, LA _ OC is the best. If you_re over 25, and nightlife isn_t as big a deal to you, I_d rate San Francisco, San Mateo County, San Diego County, Sonoma County as top choices. If you_re a parent, I_d recommend Disneyland (Orange County area), San Diego (Sea World _ other attractions), and San Francisco as the top choices.

And, I don_t know how hard it is to get Lakers tix.

    Good luck.

  • I live in California maybe i can help/ well yeah deff go to LA also San Fransisco (it_s so much fun, they have lots of cool museums!), Gilroy (the city smells like garlic lol they have garlic festivals every july and this cool theme park called bofanti gardens u gotta check that out), san diego (sea world and the san diego zoo are musts!), san jose(lots of stuff to do including egyptian musuem so cool gotta see that!) so yeah lakers games are really hard 2 get tickets 2 though u can probably buy some on the web though lakerstix.com try anything but ramada hotels i like the comfort suites:)

  • Visit both LA and San Diego. San Diego is beautiful with lots of activites. Go on a few tours. You will love it.
