Is it snowing right now? Will it be snowing? Is it a hard drive similar to South Lake Tahoe (with lots of curves and cliffs) or an easy drive? I would love to take my two girls there on Christmas if the drive is easy. Please let me know your thoughts.
The weather is pretty changeable-one day it_s clear, the next it_s not. Just make sure you keep an eye on the weather a few days before your trip. And carry chains, even if the forecast doesn_t call for snow.
As for the drive itself, when the weather_s nice it will be beautiful. If you_re taking Hwy 50 (which is the best way to get to South Shore from Sac), it does go down from four lanes to two after Pollock Pines so be prepared for heavy traffic.
