In Nassau and Suffolk Counties, what places do you guys consider to be not so great?

I am not fond of Nassau County in general, but find the areas around Hofstra University, in Hempstead and the surrounding areas, I believe, are not so nice and have a high crime rate compared to other areas.

I also find that areas around by the Point [Montauk, etc.] can have a very empty, ghost-like appearance in the off-season that keeps me away for most of the year, save one or two times a year I go for the afternoon.

What is that Japanese looking building on the cliff at the Intersection of Routes 87 and 287 in New York?|199837

Whenever we are driving back to Albany, from PA we see this building around the Sloatsburg Suffern Exit, high up on the cliff. It looks like a huge Japanese style building but we have no idea what it is and we_d really like to find out. Any help?
