What to expect in New York during August?|143115

I am planning my very first trip to NY next month (August) and I see the websites that say NY is very humid/hot in the summer. Is is just this way for the NY natives?

Also, I can tell that in NY walking around is typical...do ladies wear sandals and/or sneakers or is it common to see chicks in heels?

theres a lot to do in aug. lots of street fairs outdoor shopping, south street seaport, it is very humid and hot in aug. most girls where dressy shorts with a casual top and dressy flats, or sneakers, not many women in heels during the day....at night yea

August is really hot and humid, it_s unbearable even to natives like us. There is really no way to get used to it. People were everything, I wouldn_t recommend sandals or high heel if you_re walking all day.

Depending what neighborhood you are planning to go, like lower Manhattan is full of rich people and west side of Manhattan as well.

Nobody cares what you wear in New York.
