Where is a safe area to stay when traveling to Washington DC?|150827

My wife and I are planning a trip to Washington D.C. and what to stay somewhere that is safe and affordable.

Any suggestion as to what Hotels/Neighborhoods we should stay at?

one there is no place tht is afforable, and were talking DC here no ones safe in tht area, when u step inside u get drafed into the army

Me and my wife stayed in Best Western situated in the city of Sterling, just near the Dulles Airport.

It is like $50 per day and a nice and brand new hotel.
