What are good summer jobs in the Boston area for a 21 year old?|118177

I go to school in New York City and London but I_d like to change up the cities for the summer. I want to write screenplays and television scripts as a career, but I_d be interested in doing something completely different/fun for the summer! Any suggestions? Bar-tending, perhaps?

  • you should study for want you want to be then try to find a job about what you studied. if there is not one you should just paint nails in your house and everyone pays $5.00! and please make me the best answer i am only 9 years old and i am new here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What day of the week should I visit the Statue of Liberty/Ellis island?|127517

I will be in New York August 8th-14th and am thinking it will be less crowded during the week. That leaves Aug. 10th-13th. Which day do you suggest? Thanks in advance.

  • July and August are the busiest months at the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island while January and February are less crowded.

Lines for the ferry to Liberty Island are longest on weekends in the summer so keep that in mind.

During the week, the wait can be over an hour to get on the ferry so if you plan to visit the Statue of Liberty during the week, try and catch the first ferry of the day to avoid unnecessary waiting.

By the way, I heard in the news that tickets for the crown are booked up through Labor Day 2009.

  • i_d shoot for the middle of the week. either tues or thurs would probably be best, because of what the other person mentioned about the wed matinees, and also because some families might try to do a long weekend, so monday might be more crowded. but basically any day is going to be crazy because it_s one of the last weeks before school starts so people might be trying to squeeze in a last minute vacation. you can purchase tickets ahead of time for the ferry over to liberty island, and it will cut down on the line wait. if you do that i think you need to purchase them for a specific time, but then it_s (i think) a guarantee that you_ll get on that ferry, so i_d recommend that.

  • I agree with you that during the week should be better, especially now that you wouldn_t have school groups visiting during the week (or, at least, not as many as during the school year). I_d avoid Wednesday, though. People come into the city for Wednesday matinees, and maybe they would combine that with a visit there was well.
  • What is requierd to go over the boarder usa in michigan- near detroit to canada?|167748

What do u need to cross over the boarder to canada id wise and is there any law of what u can bring back food drinks wise or materials? any info ?

  • I just went to Casino Niagara in canada and all you need right now to get in and out is a copy of your birth certificate and a drivers liscense but i believe as of 2009 you will need a passport. And you can bring back stuff from canada we stopped at the duty free store before entering back into the us and bought like 10 bottles of liquor because it is a little cheaper the guard will ask you if you are bringing anything back and just tell him what you got and it should be no problem as long as you don_t try to get like 40 bottles of liquor and 30 cartons of smokes that would cause some problems.

  • There is a new _Passport Card_ which went into production on July 14th.
The passport card facilitates entry and expedites document processing at U.S. land and sea ports-of-entry when travelling to or arriving from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda. The card may not be used to travel by air.

    Link to information:

    http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt_car

The Department of State is issuing this passport card in response to the needs of border resident communities for a less expensive and more portable alternative to the traditional passport book. The card has the same period of validity as a passport book: 10 years for an adult, five for children 15 and younger. Adults who already have a fully valid passport book may apply for the card as a passport renewal and pay only $20. First-time applicants pay $45 for adult cards and $35 for children.

  • You need your passport to cross over to the other side and to get back into the U.S. And you are not allowed firearms, any fruit or vegetables, any illegal drugs.Any children must have proper I.D and a court documentation that they are your children. Birth certificates. Photo I.D. No living plants, and pets must have proper shots.

  • you need a birth certificate and photo ID if you_re traveling by land, but a passport if by air.. you_re not supposed to take food with you, but they don_t check you_re luggage so you should be fine

  • A birth certificate should be fine if you were born in America, if not, bring a passport.

  • Bring a passport or photo ID plus birth certificate. It_s easier to get from the US to Canada than it is to be let back into the US.

  • a birth certificate and id and you should be fine

What are the easiest things to do to cut back on money spent on vacation?|164485

my family is planning a vacation to disney, we dont have much cash right now and we need to cut back on the amount of money we end up spending there. can someone suggest some ways to cut back? we dont shop for many souvenirs as it is, maybe a sweatshirt or a tee shirt, and my mom buys a coffee mug. so we need other ways to cut back. we are planning on driving. (were from NY)

  • Here are some ways I plan on cutting back money spent on our future Disney trip:

    - Bring a refillable bottle of water.
    - When thirsty, go to any counter service restaurant and ask for a glass of ice water which you will get for free. Take some crystal light envelopes or koolaid and add to it for free beverage.
    - Bring snacks into the park. They are allowed if they have no glass and no alcohol. Even a soft cooler (no hard ones) is okay.
    - When at Disney, take advantage of buses from your hotel to the parks to save on gas.
    - Eat at counter service places and not sit down places since those cost much more. See all menu prices for counter service places here:

    http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm

    - Fill your car up with gas just before you cross into Florida. The gas prices hike up there.
    - Eat breakfast in your hotel room. You can always bring your own toaster or coffee maker to use. Just unplug it before you leave to the parks.
    - If you are doing any programs for points cash them in now to get your rewards. We cashed in our mypoints for gas gift cards to pay for our road trip there.
    - Visit the budget board at disboards.com to see how to get free supplies such as toothpaste to take with you.

  • You might want to consider the now famous _staycation._ Find a fun spot closer to home that will be as much fun (maybe a different kind of fun from Disney but still fun). Travel expenses, lodging, dining, and amenities are cut dramatically!

We are terribly biased but we recommend that you look at the Catskill Mountains and stay in a vacation rental home rather than a hotel/motel. Our area is only about 2 1/2 hours from NYC so your gas is cut by.... A LOT!

A vacation rental is like going to visit someone only they are not there and neither is their stuff! Think family meals together (another big savings!!!); grilling on the back deck looking at the mountains. You get the picture.

There is plenty to do in the Catskills... and rather than spending money a T-shirt that will become a rag in three years, go to one of the many country auctions and get something valuable for cheap that will be a great memory for a long time!

What to do: Hiking (LOTS of state land), Skiing (slopes are open until mid-April), antiquing, ride down the Esopus River in an inner tube (wicked fun), golf, yoga, and more.

    hope this helps.

  • they have a ton of food packages that you can get with your park tix-totally worth it.

Email me and I_ll give you the info for my friend who is a Travelocity partner travel agent- she_ll have AWESOME suggestions and can get you a great price on tickets and hotel... you just might have more spending money than you thought after she puts something together for you!

  • The food there is REALLY expensive. You could easily spend $20/person on ONE meal. I would suggest packing lunches and bottled waters.
  • How long does the snow in Denver usually stay until?|114915

My husband and I want to take a trip to the Denver area, and while there he wants to snowboard. When is the latest this year we can plan to go and still have a decent amount of powder on the ground? Thank you!

  • There will be skiing till early May........................March and April are our snowiest months

  • March - April usually, depending on our winter, but remember that these places are not IN Denver, they_re at least an hour away and probably more like two hours. You won_t ever find any _good_ snow boarding in Denver and _bad_ snow boarding only occasionally, and probably on a golf course somewhere even then.

  • it depends how mush snow is falling and right now loveland has the largest base depth at 48_ witch is not that mush snow so the sooner you go i would say would be better

  • Depends... we snow whenever we snow

One day its sunny next day its a blizzard.
    Id say around february.

    After that its mostly rain
  • How long does it take to drive from Atlanta to Gwinnett?|114517

I would like to know how many hours does it take to drive from Gwinnett County to Atlanta? , and Gwinnett County to Dekalb County?

  • I drive from Lawrenceville to 5 points a few times every week. In good traffic it takes me around 34 minutes. during rush hour it can take 45 minutes to the worst ever was over 3 hours (stuck behind a jackknifed semi blocking all lanes of traffic).. normally it takes around one hour during rush hour.

Gwinnett and Dekalb share a border and from some points you can walk between in less than 2 seconds :) but Dekalb county is between Gwinnett and Atlanta. From Lawrenceville it takes me around 20 minutes to get to spaghetti junction (just inside Dekalb County if I take I-85) or about 25 minutes to get to downtown Decatur if I use US78.

  • atl - gwinnett -_ 10 minutes on interstate to 90 minutes - backroads to farthest edges

gwinnett and dekalb share a border, so 0 minute to 90 again

    double for rush hour

[be more specific about locations - dekalb and gwinnett are big counties, even atlanta is a big place]]

    wle

  • Run mapquest to get the route, and gauge your time. Though it wouldn_t take as long, I_d give myself an hour. (I hate being late.) One can assume there will be traffic during rush hour, and often at times when one would least expect it.

  • It really depends on the time of day. From Atlanta to Gwinnet during non-rush hour, I would say about 15 - 20 minutes. To Dekalb County, I_d say about 20 minutes.

  • It will take 30 mins to drive from gwinnett to atlanta. From Gwinnett to Dekalb, it depends on what part because you can take the backroad or take I-75 to I-20 E.

  • it actually depends on where you are.
half an hour from Gwinnett county to atlanta.

  • 30 to 45 minutes depending on the traffic.
  • What are the main banks in the Seattle area that are ubundant?|112426

I know there is Bank of America and that is the most seen, but I wanted to know if there are any other choices for someone moving in from out of state.

  • Bank Of America and Washington Mutual are probably the most prevalent in the area, followed up by Key Bank and Wells Fargo next. There_s also BECU (Boeing Employee Credit Union), which anyone residing in Washington can now become a member of and who has pretty decent interest rates! Aside from that, there are some smaller banks, but they might make it harder to find available ATM_s unless it is one that you live next to. Then, it_ll just depend on where you specifically move to in the state.

  • Washington Mutual and BECU are pretty popular

  • wamu, (washington mutual) friendly service
