Old Sacramento in Sacramento, CA is located along the Sacramento River and is where the original Argonauts and 49ers arrived to head out for the Gold Fields in the early days of the California Gold Rush. As the town grew, the home owners and shop keepers got tired of the river flooding their homes and stores, so they brought in tons of dirt and raised the city above flood level by burying the first floor of the buildings and moving up to the second level. (So what had been the 1st floor was now the basement _ the 2nd floor became the 1st floor).

As a result, there are rooms and tunnels underneath the current buildings and they are said to be haunted. There are many stories of paranormal experiences reported by owners and staff of the shops in the area that still have access to the lower levels through their shops. There used to be organized tours, but I don_t believe they have them anymore - too bad!! it would be very interesting, don_t you think? See

The first thing that came to my mind was also the Winchester House in San Jose, however... I don_t think it is that scary! The tour kind of takes away from the scare.

What really fun things can a 6 year old boy do in the Mackinaw/St. Ignace area in Michigan?|116836

My husband, son, and I are going up to the Mackinaw bridge in about a week. Does anyone know of really cool things that a 6 year old boy can do? I_ve already been to several websites. I dont think he_ll enjoy site-seeing very much.

Before you go on the trip, show your son all the Mackinac Island photos on Flickr. Read to him all the nice things people say to each other on that website. Tell him that you_ll let him use the digital camera for the entire trip so that he can take pictures and upload them to Flickr too when he gets back.

I admit this doesn_t work for all 6-year olds, but I know a few who won_t set the camera down during the entire trip, because they can_t wait until they get back to share the photos they took on the Internet.

The best thing about it is all the positive feedback your son will get. Just make sure you_re always there when he_s online of course...

Take him to Mackinac City. There_s lots of shops and little rides for him. You can also go to Mackinac Island (take the ferry over), and spend a day there. There_s lots of things to see and do there. There are fun houses and magic shops, with magicians, street performers, lots of horses and animals, parks and lots of things to do.

go to mackinaw island, and just wlk around, or you can let him swim in lake michigan.

As corny as it may be the Mystery Spot is always fun. They have a miniature golf course now as well. If you don_t mind a little bit of a drive the GarLyn Zoological Park is fabulous.

Mackinaw Island is fun but a bit expensive. The ferry ride is great. You can also go horseback riding or bicycle riding around the island. If he likes that sort of thing the fort can be fun.

Depending on the weather - Thunderfalls Water Park is great! We were just there last week and had a great time. Tip if you go- SUNSCREEN!

Also, there are some Agates on the beaches that can be worth hundreds of dollars to Lake Superior Agate collectors.

How many days should 2 teenagers spend in Disney World?|109859

I am 15, my brother is 17. We_ve never been to Disney World, but we plan on going. How many days should we spend in Disney World? Also how many days should we spend at each theme park? Lastly, what parks should we go to, like should we go to the water parks and what else should we go to? Good and detailed answers please. Thanks.

I think that there are definitely things you will enjoy at each of the parks. So if you can, I would visit all four of the theme parks. I usually like to give myself about a week at Disney, which allows for a day or two of things other than theme parks to give me a bit of a break.

At least a day at Magic Kingdom, possibly two. At least a day at Epcot, possibly two if you want to really thoroughly explore all the countries in the back.

Hollywood Studios - some people think this is a half-day park. Personally, I really like some of the rides there and like to do them more than once, such as the Tower of Terror and Rock n Roller Coaster. So for me, I like to spend a full day there. Animal Kingdom - not my favorite, I_m not that in to animals. So this is a half-day park for me.

Water parks - I am not a water park person, but if you are, Disney has two great ones. I wouldn_t necessarily go to them both, but you might like to pick one to spend a day at.

There is a shopping/eating district called Downtown Disney that you might want to visit one day. It_s good to do this maybe mid-way through your visit to give you a bit of a break from the parks, which can be hectic. Disney Quest is kind of an advanced arcade, and it is in this area. It_s a bit pricey, but you might like to check it out.

This is the best planning site I know of. They list absolutely everything there is to do. Scan through the attractions that each park has and come up with a list of must-see attractions for you. This will help you decide how to divide your time.

Having teenagers myself i tell you they would say stay as long as you can. But realistically one or two days for a single trip is fine. that gives you time to go to more different parks.

Like i say to mine you can always go back. I would highly recommend the disney quest in downtown disney for your age group,. Its like a virtual wonderland and definately worth a trip and it stays open late.

Animal Kingdom takes a good day, Epcot takes a day, MGM takes a half a day, but there are things you might want to do more than once, Magic Kingdom takes a day and a half to get everything in, You should make time to go to Downtown Disney one evening, and Blizzard Beach is the best waterpark it takes about half a day. Well, maybe you should spend a week there, if you can. Disney World has four theme parks, two water parks, and a shopping and entertainment district call Downtown Disney. The theme parks are: Disney_s Magic Kingdom, Disney_s Animanl Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney_s Hollywood Studios (I think that_s what its called). The two water parks are Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. It really depends on you to decide which theme parks to go to and how long to stay there.

Are you going alone? You won_t be able to stay in a hotel since neither of you are 18. Renting a car is also out, because you must be 25. Perhaps you have other plans for these things, but I wanted you to be aware of these age restrictions.

Mt. Baldy county park in michigan City on Lake Michigan is the best spot... bring some wine and a blanket too... the largest dune on lake michigan... just as the sun sets the water gets calm , quiet and serene...mmm...boing!!!
