The best thing to do if you are getting drunk, regardless of where you are, is not to drive and kill someone or yourself.

Hit on the bachelorette party girls in Canton, Fells Point or even Power Plant Live who are just as drunk as you are. Stay away from the sober ones until they become just as drunk as their other friends. Be careful you don_t wind up in Baltimore_s Central Booking - that would be the worst thing to do in Baltimore while getting drunk.

There_s a place I know of that a lot of people I know have went to while there --- It_s Looneys at 2900 O_Donnell St.

I think it has a restaurant/bar at the bottom and pool tables and stuff upstairs. I understand it_s a sports bar.

You are PLANNING on getting sick? Then my dad use to swear on Coke and Vodka.. the only thing that didn_t give him a hang over. Otherwise, just eat plenty and drink water for as much alc. that you have drunk and be safe and DON_T drive. I_d hate for my husband to splat you on his way home from work. No one needs to know that you are being responsible when you drink. Recommend going to the Rusty Scupper restaurant by the inner harbor. It was tasty.

How many miles (each way) do you drive for work each day?|171579

I just moved to Dallas, and it looks like I will be driving 22 miles one way to work from where I live. I_ve mentioned this to people and they don_t seem to blink about it here. I moved from another big city but never drove this much one way. Just got me wondering about other peoples daily drives. Please state how many miles you drive each way and if possible the city (or nearest big city) you live. Thanks!

15 miles, but I am in the Phoenix area. Grew up in Frisco,Tx.

I drive 55 miles each way, but it_s almost all on rural expressways, so I can go 70-80mph for most of the drive. I have to go slower on the streets between my house and the expressway, and on the streets between the expressway and my job. All in all, it takes me about 55 minutes.

Up until a few months ago, it was 75 miles each way, but I changed jobs to (among other reasons) reduce my commute. The town I live in has no good-paying jobs in my industry, unfortunately. But it has the only university in the state offering the program that my wife is getting her Ph.D. in.

I live in Long Beach, CA and drive 7 miles to my job in Huntington Beach, CA. 2 miles of that I get to see the ocean and marinas. It_s a 15-20 minute drive.
When I lived in Dallas I usually drove 20+ miles to get to work and I didn_t get to see the ocean, just lots of LBJ....Lakewood to Far North Dallas.

I drive 30 miles each way. Luckily, most of it is on 380 (I work in McKinney and live almost on the edge of Lake Lewisville). I have worked further than that though (back when gas was much cheaper).

I_m thankful that my commute isn_t longer than it is. My brother in law commutes from Bolivar Pennisula to Kemah (about 50 miles, plus a 30 minute ferry ride).

I do know it is 40 miles to downtown Dallas from McKinney, TX and it_s in the metro area! Sometimes it takes up to two hours to get there. But any other times besides rush hour Dallas isn_t totally inaccessible. Just take 75 or run to Frisco on 121 and take the North Dallas Tollway.

Sad to say, I drive 51 miles each way, all within LA, CA. I live in Pasadena, CA and I work in Long Beach, CA, and my passenger, for whom I detour, lives in Arcadia, CA. Yuck to so much driving, but drive we must!

My husband drives about 25 miles to work each day (to Plano - we live north of Dallas), and it takes him about 30-40 min. No big deal:) We moved from Southern California last year, and that distance could take up to 2 HOURS during rush hour!

I drive 0 miles to work. I_m a stay at home mom. When I did drive I drove about 19 miles to work it took me about 30 minutes. I live in Memphis, TN

i drive 50 miles each way, its all interstate so it really only takes about 45 minutes.

I live in the NYC/NJ metro area. I drive about 16 miles each way.

Whats the cheapest way to go to Ethel M Chocolate Factory from Strip?|135085

We are a group of 4 - all in ages 25-30. Going Las Vegas for 3 days.
We were thinking to go to Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens.
Do you think it worth going there. and what will be the cheapest way to go. If it helps we do have monorail pass for one day and were planning to buy a $5 bus pass for at least one day.

The Monorail does NOT go anywhere but back and forth on the east side of The Strip between MGM Grand and Sahara.

A bus ride would be at least two hours each way, having to go Downtown, transfering at least twice or more, if a bus goes there.

Ask the bellman or concierge for a tourist bus that goes there. Ethel M is in Henderson, which is 25 miles away. You will see the factory but they make the candy at night but you could see them packaging it. You will get one piece of free candy in the gift store. BTW Ethel M sells candy with real liquors in it like brandy with cherries. The Botanical Garden is nice but will be very hot if you are there in the summer.

Your other choice is to rent a car for the day and drive, not a bad drive, too.

Honestly, I wouldn_t waste your time. I took my family there when they visited. It took all of 10 minutes to walk through the _factory_ (one hallway) and 15 minutes in the gift shop. The gardens are ok but nothing spectacular. It_s not worth the trip. There is an Ethel M candy store in the M_M_s shop on the Strip and there are others in various casinos. If you want to try the chocolate, stop at one of those and save the cab fare.

Addition: You CANNOT walk there from the Strip. The actual factory is in Henderson, not walking distance.

It is definitely worth the visit. You will love it. Getting there is easy. You can either take the bus heading south on Sunset or if the weather is cool enough, you can actually walk there from the strip. Here is a map to Ethel from the strip.

Santa Fe is pretty during the summer. If youre lucky, youll catch it in a little monsoon(mid-summer). If you like nature, That_s a good area. The tram to the top of the sandia mountain(then hike around up there) in albuquerque is a nice thing to do. If you like opera, there is an opera house in santa fe. Then you could also go to the museums around new mexico. Thats pretty much all you can do in New Mexico. Nature Stuff and museums. Oh, and off roading/4 wheeling.

What day do they shut off the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in NYC? Do they shut it down on Christmas day??? If so what day and time do they shut down the tree? What day do all the windows and evrything in Rockefeller Center go down?

The tree stays up until after the new year. The only time the lights are shut off are on NYE (I think).

The store decorations should be up until January 1.

The U.S changes times twice a year but Arizona doesn_t. In the spring we jump forward an hour and in the fall we go back an hour but I can_t remember when my city is on the same time as Tuscon.

There_s gold in them hills, but it_s not easy to get. Otherwise, everyone would be getting it. Even in the Mother Lode Country, most people couldn_t make enough money to scrape a living. The only people who really got rich were the ones who sold the mining equipment.

However, if you must, (despite our warnings):

In the north central part of the county, you will find Acton, it is located in the Cedar and Mt. Gleason district, the area had many area mines and prospect pits, notably the Governor Mine, which had a total production of at least 50,000 ounces of lode gold.

If you go north up San Gabriel Canyon, you will find Azusa, which is located in the San Gabriel district which had a total production, 1848-1957, of about 165,000 ounces of gold. In the San Gabriel range gravels, worked 1848-80 for estimated 120,000 ounces of placer gold and still productive of colors and nuggets to weekend panners and dredgers. There were also several area lode mines in area which contained gold quartz veins cutting igneous and metamorphic rocks. In the East Fork of the San Gabriel range, the old site of Eldoradoville which was a gold camp of early 1860s and favorite amateur gold hunting area today, in area watercourse and bench gravels you can find placer gold with some sizable nuggets.

North along the Kern County line and south of Neenach, you will fin Lancaster, which is in the Antelope Valley district. Gold was discovered in 1934 in the Antelope Valley district. It had a total production through 1946 of 9,700 ounces. There are many area claims and prospects, and the River Mining Company Claims are the most productive for placer and lode gold.

In Placerita Canyon State Park near Newhall, it is the area of original productive placer operations, in present gravel deposits you can still find placer gold.

Northeast of San Fernando by 12 miles, in Pacoima Canyon, the headwater and area gravels and slopewash deposits contain placer gold. If you go 12 miles up the canyon from its mouth, you will find the Denver Mining and Milling Property which was a rich lode gold producer.

In Tujunga located in Tujunga Canyon, the area gravel deposits contain colors and small nuggets.


You might not even get enough for beer money, let alone rent, but good luck anyway.

People still pan for gold in Placerita Canyon.

Although, I don_t think a 12-pack will be enough.

Even in the gold rush days, there never was much gold in SOUTHERN California. The mining region is up by Sacramento. I_d suggest you get a job.

There is gold virtually all over Southern California, that is not the problem. You must find it in sufficiently large enough concentrations to make it worthwhile to pursue which is extremely difficult. ....Otherwise it is just a leisurely fun activity. If I were you I would try streams in the upper northern San Fernando Valley (where gold was first discovered in California about 1842 or so on Rancho San Fernando at San Feliciano Canyon) or in Perris Valley, those are two spots where there has been significant _commercial_ gold hunting activity...There are quite a number of places around the state where for a few dollars you can hunt by the _pan and hand_method only...no sluices allowed... _Good Luck...BTW don_t trespass on other people_s property...
If you save the aluminum from the beer cans that may be your best source of recoverable minerals..
But the whole experience can be a lot of fun...
