How was your stay at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas?|154911

I stayed at the Monte Carlo for a few days with my cousins. I didn_t like it that much, nothing fancy to me unless you get a really really great room. We had either the back or front view, I think it was the back view. Some rooms have a bad view, ours had a construction site and parking lot. We could see about 2/10 part of the New York New York hotel and the roller coaster. The pool sucks because there_s a hotel building covering half of the sunlight for the lazy river and wave pool. The lazy river was O.K. but it was too short and it didn_t felt like a river. Thier pool was very dirty and there were leaves and plant stems and some cigerettes floating, kind of disgusting. There_s one heated pool where most adults stay and is usually crowded and the sun is shining on it. I think the pool stays up to 7pm.
Probably the only thing I liked in the Monte carlo was that the food court was close and I got to walk around the strip, it_s close to M _ M world/gameworks/coca cola.
My stay at monte carlo was okay, nothing spectacular like other great hotels in las vegas. This hotel isnt for me cause I have asthma and this hotel has alot of people smoking indoors and such.

People are being a bit harsh about the Monte Carlo. It is a pretty nice hotel and I like it. It is not loaded with attractions and it is not enormous in size but to me that is a definite advantage. Those huge everything under one roof hotels may be fine for some but to me places like the MGM or Caesars are so big, the walk from the lobby to your room is exhausting.

However, I cannot recommend the Monte Carlo or New York New York until 2010. There is a massive and I mean massive construction project called City Center underway that runs from the Monte Carlo to the Bellagio.

In fact, there is a inordinate amount of construction going on all over Las Vegas. The Wynn is adding as second tower called Encore, there are several condo projects and the Mirage is refurbishing the Volcano out front so that is a mess, too. If this is your first time to Las Vegas you will not be seeing it at its best.

The Monte Carlo is the worst Las Vegas hotel built in the last 20 years. Other than Lance Burtons show, it has nothing to offer! There_s nothing to see or do in it. I went to the Monte Carlo the other day just do remind myself how much I hate it.

The pool is practically unusable right now. They_re building a big hotel 150 feet from the pool and there_s staging _ construction traffic 10 feet from the pool! It_s no place to relax and pretty dirty.

My stay was almost exactly like the person above. It wasn_t the best hotel I have ever stayed at but, it does save money. I don_t like the pool because there is construction going on about 100 feet from the pools. So, that got annoying. You can get a few good views if you stay in the rooms facing the strip. So all in all it was just ok.

Oh wow, don_t stay there ever again. It_s my second least favorite hotel to stay at (next to the Stratosphere). The only good thing about it was that it was in front of the MGM

Downtown apartments close to Cleveland State University?|167514

I grew up in a east-side suburb of Cleveland, and am now going to school in South Carolina.I am planning to transfer to CSU for fall 2009 school year, and am trying to find affordable, cool apartments in the downtown area. The closer to CSU the better. If any current students live in the downtown area near school, with good amenities and prices let me know! Thanks.

There are some nice lofts on 18th _ St. Clair or Superior sorry I can_t remember which but they are right behind the police department and you can get to CSU in less than 5 minutes walking. I hear they are pretty reasonably priced.
There is a lot of development going on downtown by the Fall _09 school year some of those deveopments may be finished. I know a lot of people who went to CSU lived in the Chesterfield building on 12th street. I think it_s like $650 for a one bedroom.
If you don_t mind living in dorms Fenn Towers I hear is really nice.

I_ve been a Viking for 4 years now and I love it!!! There are so many housing options out there- check out forrent.com for off campus... on campus- there are 2 great dorms Viking Hall and Fenn Tower. Check out csuohio.edu and search for residence life. I lived in viking for 2 years- and loved it!

I lived in an apartment complex (can_t remember the name of the life of me) that was on E30th St between Euclid and the street just below it. It wouldn_t recommend going past E30th street. The apt was alright, nice location in regards to the school. A friend of mine lived on 12th in a high rise and they had a grocery store on the bottom floor as well as a parking garage and pool. It was pretty nice. Sorry I cant remember the names of the places.

get a membership at ur local rec and go swimming wit a group of friends...go to carnivals, the show, rent movies...go to parks...etc

Rental companies don_t offer one way cargo vans and a bigger truck is cost prohibitive. I could tow a trailer - I have a full size Jeep, but I_m a little intimidated driving 700+ miles with one. Thanks for your suggestions.

Advertise on craigslist and see if someone already driving there would like some extra cash to do it for you.

How do you get to Manhattan from Newark airport?|140551

And how much does it cost?

Go to the Ground Transportation Desk and book for the Big Blue Bus. It_ll cost about $20. They_ll take you to your destination. Far cheaper than a cab.

If you_ve got lots of luggage I would suggest a taxi for convenience.

I did it a few months ago for $75.00 incl tolls and tip which, if you_re in the UK like me, is not a lot of money.
When you get to the cab stand at Newark, there_ll be a taxi marshall, they will give you a slip detailing the costs and bring the cab forward for you, give the slip to the driver.
It_s really easy and there_s no arguing over the cost, the driver will stick to the slip he_s been given.

P.S. You_ll probably get told during and in-flight tourist guide not to take a cab (We did on a Continental flight), take no notice, really straight forward and no hassle.

Take the AirTrain to the NJ Transit _Newark International Airport_ station. From there get a NJ Transit train to NY Penn Station (33rd St and 7th Av/8th Av)

The cost is $15.00 one way and includes the fare/fee to use the AirTrain. Purchase tickets from ticket machines at the AirTrain station. Schedules for trains that stop there (and go to Manhattan) are posted there as well.

the easiest way is to take a cab but that isn_t cheap from Newark, if your going to a specific hotel then there is probably a shuttle. If your renting a car for a little bit then take the New Jersey Turnpike to the Lincoln tunnel and that will bring you to Manhattan, the toll is only like $.75

What is there to do in Eureka Springs in the winter?|151649

My fiancee and I are going to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for our honeymoon which will be in late January/early February. I_ve been looking online for things to do, and everything that looks like fun will be closed since it_s winter. Any suggestions? Any locals know of anything fun? Thanks.

hey i am from the town next to ES. and i worked at a cafe there too! its really not the best time to visit there but you can get tours of the Crescent Hotel for about 17$( i pretend to be a worker and walk around for free!) and if you like mexican food go on hwy. 62 east 8 miles to berryville and try Dos Rios...great food! other than that it will be kind dead and some shops may be closed..but branson, mo is only 25 miles north and they have tons of shops and stuff...too bad you two arnt going in the summer time!!!!! have fun anyways and there are all sorts of broshures in stores there so pick em up and see whats going on...the locals are sooo nice and will tell you where to go that week! i miss home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it better to the same price to buy Disney tickets online or at the parks?|164252

I_m heading to Disney next week and was deciding on buying park hopper tickets when I got there or if I should get them on disney online. If it_s the same price I_d like to wait till we get there. Also, Should I but the extra hours? I don_t want to spend the money if it_s usually not that crowded and we get into the rides we want during normal hours.

It_s going to be the same price online or in Disney. However, if you are staying on Disney property, you can call your hotel and have tickets added to your reservation. This will help you avoid waiting in line to get your tickets, but also is better than ordering them online and risking them not reaching you before you leave for your trip.

If you_re not staying at Disney property, I would still wait until you get to the park to buy your ticket. Remember, you can go at anytime to buy your tickets, you don_t have to go and wait in line as soon as the park opens. You could go the day you arrive, buy your tickets at the ticket _ transportation center, and then begin park hopping the next day.

If you_re staying on Disney property, extra magic hours are included with your ticket. You_ll need to show your resort ID and you will be allowed into the park. The wristbands have been discontinued, but you will be asked to repeatedly show your resort ID throughout the evening.

Another option that you can purchase, is Mickey_s Very Merry Christmas Party. Anybody can buy this ticket, it is not included in a park ticket, and it is not restricted to resort guests. It_s a holiday party w/special events, characters in holiday costumes, a holiday parade _ fireworks, _snow_ on main street, and free cocoa _ cookies. It is a lot of fun, and something you could consider purchasing if you didn_t get everything done in the parks during the day. The rides for the most part are still open during the event.

Here is a list of December_s extra magic hours. Each day a park will open one hour early, and another will close 3 hours late, for resort guests of course.

ok well the price is the same online and at the parks. so if you want to wait you won_t loose out on a deal or anything. the only thing is you will be waiting in a long line to buy them at the park but other than that all the options are the same and the price is the same.

and you can_t buy the extra magic hours. the extra hours are a benefit of staying at a disney world resort hotel. the only people that get extra hours are hotel guests. everyone else has to leave when the park closes. and the people from the disney hotels get a wrist band to wear so they can be identified as being aloud to use the extra magic hours.
but don_t worry you will get pleanty done at the parks. it really doesn_t get crowded until dec 21st. next week is actually an ideal time to go cuz the crowds are light and the christmas season is in full swing.

They are the same price, but the advantage is you don_t have to wait in line. And it sounds like you will hit the Christmas crowd, meaning it will be insanely busy. So I would highly recommend buying them ahead of time. However, don_t listen to some of the advice given - don_t buy except from an authorized dealer. Like you said, buying from Disney direct is best. EBay is not a legitimate place to buy tickets.

You cannot purchase extra hours. On certain days in certain parks, guests staying at a Disney resort ONLY are eligible to either go in early or stay late. You cannot purchase this benefit - you receive it for free if you are a resort guest.

We just got back a few weeks ago and I strongly recommend buying them online. It just saves so much hassle once you get to the parks. Also, if you check it out online, you can purchase better package options (disney dining plan, etc.) while having time to decide what you do and don_t need. The extra hours are great for riding those rides that the lines were just way too long for earlier in the day.

if it is the same price either way then go ahead and buy them at the park.If you start they day of when they open just go to the back of the park first and work your way to the front.That way you get on more rides and wait in less lines.

They_re the same price, but if you buy and print them online you don_t have to wait in the ticket line! That ticket lines get long and everyone tries to cut you... (shudders).

A friend told me the best deal was to buy them on ebay. I have never tried it but I suspect he is right:
