What are some good haunted house places in Orlando for Halloween?|147925

Our anniversary is Halloween and usually we either eat out in town or go to Bush Gardens for their halloween thing. This year we want to make it a 4 day event where we would go to the one at Bush Gardens first night and then head over to Orlando for the 2nd night to go to Universal Studios_ halloween thing (maybe catch some horror flicks before hand). But the last time I looked, I remember there was some haunted houses there that were regular attractions (not some one put together by JCs or a school or something) that you could go to. If anybody knows of any or can recommend some good ones or unique ones (like a cornfield one that was in a place I lived once) that would be great.

  • In downtown Kissimmee they offer ghost tours nightly at BH Extreme Ghost Hunting Tours. Must make reservation at least 5 days in advance. Check in time for tours is 8:15 pm and tour lasts until 10:30 pm. From their website: Tours include: transportation in an air-conditioned H1 Limo, Certified Ghost Hunter , use of an EMF meter, photo opportunities and a terrific guide! Armed with meters that measure electromagnetic fluctuations, Ghost Hunters (that_s YOU) discover the existence of ghosts at historic and haunted sites. At the end, you_ll have learned enough to photograph spirit images, recognize manifestations, hear mysterious stories and delve into the world of spirits. Not to mention learning some great history! And join us for a grave yard hunt, as we explore the unknown, reveal the art and traditions of ghost hunting, and stories of those still lurking amongst the shadows. A superb evening of history, ghost hunting, tradition and mystery.
If you check out the website and click on Haunted Kissimmee, it will list the stops on the tour. Highly recommended you bring a camera.

There_s also the Haunted Grimm House of Old Town located on Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. (hwy 192) down by I-4 which is a year round haunted house attraction.

  • I went on this tour and it was very rushed, the guide was rude, and when my mother was hurt, he could care less and would not help us at all. This tour is a joke to any real _Ghost_ fan.

I would not reccomend this tour to anyone! look for another!

  • Hi I am Steve the owner I have looked back to see if we have your name on file we do not this means you are with the other tour comp. trying to make us look bad .Nice try. Who was your guide E-Mail me

  • Hey you named the top two already, as far as outside ones like cornfields, I wouldnt advise due to death from snakes and all the other crap here, Take a look into St. Augustine. They have ghost tours that go through the city and tell all the scary stories, My g/f and I have been on it and It was cool plus the city is wonderful.
  • Where can i take high school kids on a trip to new york city?|136576

We are from Boston and i don_t know the city that well. Taking between 10 and 15 kids and it has to be an educaional trip or something like that within walking distance of ground zero also? Please help?

  • Wall Street, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Graves of Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton, St Paul_s Chapel (where President Washington went to church), to name just a few spots within walking distance.
Don_t miss walking along the Hudson River and the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center.

  • you can get a tour of the NY stock exchange thats pretty interesting depending on the age of the kids and NBC a local news station does tours for high school groups too! Have a great time

  • Take them to Ground Zero and show them World Trade Center 7(it_s open) then cross the Brklyn bridge. Battery Park and show them the Statue and ellis Is. show them the cilton Cir. I thnk they let people in the woolworth building. Should be safe now because there are like police on every corner in Dwntown

  • I recommend Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty. I_m sure many of your students had relatives that came through Ellis Island.

There are a number of great museums in lower Manhattan. For a list, go to the New York City Convention Center_s web site:

    http://www.nycvisit.com/content/index.cf

If you click on the link for _Planning Your Trip_ and then click on _Family Travel,_ you_ll be able to get ideas for visiting with kids or teens.

Let me add that few people mention that the United Nations is in Manhattan. I remember visiting it with my school as well as with my parents and I was do impressed that I can remember it to this day.

  • don_t forget the South Street Seaport, it_s a little bit of a walk from Ground Zero but the pay off is the Brooklyn Bride in its massive full glory. The S.S.Seapot also has a museum and such. Try to look up some info from them and see if you can arrange something theire. Historical and authentic.

  • depends on the class i guess. for science id obviously go to the natural history museum, art id go to the met or moma, for history id go way downtown for a walking tour,

  • see the staute of washington where he took his oath of office on broad and wall st across from the exchange ,trinity church, battery park at the tip of manhattan ,francines tavern where washington bid farewell to his officers, south st seaport and veiw the river aand its sights you can walk over to city hall up to chinatown and little italy ,then into grenwich village
  • What is the difference between a northern Ohio and a California accent?|150057

Please give some examples (some words both pronounce differently, or some terminology) to illustrate the difference. As I understand it, Drew Carey has the perfect Ohio accent; and a lot of northern Californians have the perfect Californian accent. But to my ear (of a native of NJ), I do not notice ANYTHING different between the accents. They both sound like the standard American accent.

  • Soda vs pop. Other than that, not too much. Or maybe I_m not aware of it coming from NJ as well.
  • What are some price ranges on apartments in hawaii?|146795

I am permanently moving to Honolulu for school, and I was thinking of a one bedroom apartment, but is there cheapers alternatives, and what is the pricing on one bedrooms?

  • You can get an efficiency for about $800. A contel/condtel (hotel room that has a kitchenette) for around $700, but your best bet is roommates. My neighbors are college students they live in a 3 bed room, 2 bath condo for $3200 monthly(guessing on their rent), which is a _luxury_ high-rise.

Good Luck with the apartment and school hunt!

  • delusional people like john/leroy can be the token guy from the mainland working through our armed forces, living in hawaii.... you can point at/blame obama for someone like him.
its gonna be expensive and the schools are NOT at all exceptional. for instance, look at the primary and middle schools, some of the worst education inthe country.

  • Things are pretty chaotic right now and you can bargain with your landlord. A friend of my just had his rent reduced by $200 per month (he_d told the landlord he was moving because he couldn_t afford the apartment any longer)

  • cheap apartments are like 900 or 800 a month..you_ll be luck if you find one that cost 700 a month, and that_s for 1 bedroom apartments. do yourself a favor, and just stay where you are right now,, because if you are worrying about money, you have no business being here in hawaii..only rich people like me can live here comfortably
  • How much is the average pay /salary for a staff nurse is Texas?? how about in rochester ny???|124913

planning to move out of NYC... looking at texas and rochester ny. want to know the difference between the salary of RN in both places. thanks.

  • Go to salary.com. and you can search and compare both prices.
  • Where would be a good place for engagement photos in San Francisco?|138292

We_d like to have the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, but would take suggestions for other places as well. We were thinking Baker_s Beach, but i had heard that it was clothing optional, and we will have our young daughter with us. Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

  • I_m going to go along with the Palace of the Legion of Honor. It_s usually not crowded at all, it_s a fabulous view of the bridge and Bay, and you have some other options of places for photos (statues, gardens).

Baker (as I mentioned in your other question) can get windy and sandy.

You also might consider going across the bridge to the Marin Headlands, where you can get shots like this:

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h

  • The grounds of the Palace of Legion of Honor overlook the GG Bridge so that could work well. When I did my engagement photos that is one of the options we tried. We got some great pictures but decided to go with a different option.

Some other suggestions for GG Bridge backdrop
    Ft. Point
    Ft. Mason
    Ft. Baker in marin

or some other great spots to try for an only in SF feel.
Portals of the Past, Conservatory of Flowers, Japanese Tea Garden, or the windmill in Golden Gate Park
Sutro Heights park has some beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean
Coit Tower or the Fillbert Street Steps
Embarcadaro with the Bay Bridge or the TransAmerica building in the background.
Treasure Island with the city spread out behind you

    Congratulations on your engagement!

  • The above poster is right on the mark with Ft. Mason. Beautiful up there!

Also, think about Treasure Island, right on the banks, where you can get a phenomenal picture of the SF skyline and Bay Bridge in the background!

  • Fort Point is also a good place. Another is Crissy Field.

What is the best way to get around town in San Diego?|146397

I am traveling to San Diego in October with my husband for a convention. We will be staying at the Hilton San Diego Resort in Mission Bay. I know it is very close to Sea World but I also want to travel over to the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park while my husband is working the convention. I don_t want to end up paying $50 to $100 for cab fares and I_m so unfamiliar with the freeway system of Southern California that renting a car would not be a good solution. Any good advice on economical and safe transportation for a female tourist?

  • The hotel should have info. Closest trolley is Linda Vista which is a stop away from Old Town, but I think a bus runs past the hotel, the hotel should have a shuttle and give you info.

Going to the zoo is only by bus or taxi. Same with Sea World, and most of the buses stop running after 9:30. There are a lot of transients at Old Town trolley stop and some of the downtown stops. Daytime is pretty safe to get around, but know the routes. The zoo and Sea World are on the costly side, but you_ll spend a full day doing things.

Amtrak to Union Station LA is 30 bucks each way. Unlimited subway is about 3 dollars, but there_s plenty to do in the area.

You can get a 3 day ticket at the trolley stop, which covers buses too.

  • Grayline tours was my ultimate solution. For $47.00, they came by the hotel to pick me up and provided me with a ticket so I wouldn_t have to stand in line. Then they picked me up at 4 pm.

  • RENT A CAR...NO CABS. IF YOU GET A CAB TO ALL THE EXCITING THINGS YOU WILL HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR A CAR RENTAL.

  • Renting a car seems to be the only option. If you are really worried about it, try to plan out your days (or at least the events/places you want to attend). Before you leave home, mapquest all of those locations with your hotel...you_ll know your way around before you know it.

  • Sorry, there_s no way around it...you NEED a car if you want to get around town in SD. That hotel is in a really inconvenient location for public transportation and it_s not really THAT close to Sea World either...you won_t be walking there. Don_t get me wrong....that property is great for walking at the bay - though....but Sea World is a little far. The best you could do is take a cab to Old Town and then take the trolley as far as it will go to Downtown or something....but really - you_d be better off with a car. Driving in Sd isn_t like driving in NYC or something....you can handle it the signs are good and most of the tourist attractions are easy to find. Honestly.....rent a car.

  • Rent a car. Just consider it a learning experience and go for it. San Diego is a lot easier to navigate than LA, so don_t worry much about it. But you need a car, it is So Cal after all.

  • Unfortunately there is no bus line that runs in front of that hotel so you kind of need to rent a car b/c of where you are staying. The closest bus stop would be at least a 10-15 minute walk away. Maybe your husband can drop you off at Old Town Transit Center and you can take the bus or Trolley to the Zoo. But driving is not that bad b/c you are so close to Balboa Park. I-5, which is the freeway that runs in front of the hotel, will take you to Balboa Park. Renting a car is really the only option other than a cab b/c there is nothing by that hotel, it_s surrounded by a park and a freeway.

  • You_ll find your way around - don_t worry! However, you MUST rent a car! I_m a San Diego native and it_s really the best and only way to get around. San Diego is a city built for the car. It_s also the safest way for a woman to get around. You_ll love driving around San Diego! That_s the best way to see it!
