How long can someone stay in the US with a visitor visa?|174560

I_m wondering how long someone can, at a maximum, stay in the US as a visitor (non-student, non-working visa). Also, how frequently can they do this? Can they visit for their maximum time, go home, and then come right back and do it again?

You know the ONE piece of information that is absolutely essential here? Yup, the NATIONALITY of the person in question. A Canadian can spend 6 months in any one year period in the U.S. without a visa. If he is in the states for 3 months, leaves and returns in a day or two, that is fine. If the person is from the UK. or other visa waiver country, he can come for 90 days at a time, must return home and may come for another 90 days, up to 180 days n a year. There is no specified waiting time between trips. If a person has a b2 tourist visa, he may come to the U.S. multiple times during the 5 or 10 year duration of the visa, just must convince the immigration officer that he can support himself , and will return home ..there is no specified time between visits....People from Canada and visa waiver countries have the best chances of not being turned away.

When you arrive, you will be asked the purpose of your visit and your intended length of stay. If it all seems right and plausible to the officer, you will be given permission to stay for that period, or whatever period the officer deems appropriate. You must leave by the stated time. You could then return again, but the point is that it is a big deal in one_s life to come and go, and costly of course, so people do not take this lightly.

If you come in on holiday and say so, and you look like a two-week tourist, that will ring true to the immigration officer, who will grant you that time. If, on the other hand, you are trying to come in and stay on, and you want six months, but you don_t look as if you have the means, they will question you with care and might give you less.

It is all up to the immigration officer they stand in front of at the immigration line at the airport. They can decide to let you stay anywhere from 2 weeks up to 6 months. They will stamp your passport and that is your proof of legal stay here. If you get out of the country within whatever time frame they gave you then you can keep coming back as many times as you wish

Is there overnight parking at the Greyhound Bus Station?|166446

I am driving from Texas and have family from Michigan coming and meeting in Chicago for the weekend. Our hotel is downtown but neither of us want to drive down there or pay the outrageous parking. They are taking the bus from MI to Chicago so i was thinking of just parking at the bus station and all us taking CTA to our hotel. So is there overnight parking at the bus station or near it that is not $30-$45/night?

there are private concession parking lots all over teh city of Chcago but none that are run and operated by the Greyhound bus lines....You can expect to pay bewteen 30-45 for a 24hr period if you plan on parking downtown and you must check before you leave your car. Not all of these allow for overnight parking at any fee. So be sure that the one you place your car in , is one that allows for it...There are plenty of both types to be had...But it isnot cheap of course.......with a little luck your hotel is within walking distance...what is thename of the hotel

What is the most unusual/beautiful natural spot in the US?|182689

I_m always thinking a few vacations ahead and just would like some opionions on some maybe nice unknown beautiful spots in the US. I don_t like the tourist traps. But i don_t want to spend nights in the wilderness either. Campgrounds work though.

Depends on what you like. For ocean views, Big Sur (CA) and Coos Bay (OR). For canyons, Monument Valley (UT) and Dead Horse Point State Park (UT, near Arches NP). For lakes, Lake Tahoe (NV). For mountains, Colorado portion of Rocky Mountains, especially Maroon Bells.

What are the commute options to Downtown Boston from Providence Airport ?|153843

I am landing at Providence airport and then want to go to back bay boston which is very close to downtown. I wanted to know what are the commute options to get to back bay from Providence Airport (Theodore Francis Green Intl Airport). I was wondering if T operates from Providence to Boston.

The T operates as a commuter rail line (the big purple trains) from Providence to both Back Bay station, and South Station.

You can get from Green airport to the train station using the ripta buses (mass transit buses in Providence) until the new train station is built that will connect Green Airport to the Boston-Providence line.

There is a train station in downtown Providence that has dozens of trains a day to downtown Boston, both Amtrak and commuter trains. (They are extending the train service to go from Boston all the way to the Providence airport but that is at least a couple years away - so your only option for the train is from downtown Providence). Anyway, you can get from the Providence airport to the train station by local RIPTA buses or just take a taxi - I would imagine that is not too expensive. The trains from Providence to Boston all stop at the Back Bay station which is right near Back Bay (obviously). Alternatively, besides the train, there are a few buses from the Providence airport to Boston but not very frequent.

My parents retired in the Sarasota area, there are a number of retirement communities there, some are on golf courses, others have different things to offer. I would check the area out, Sarasota is a lot of fun and has a lot to offer.

Can_t name specifics but check south florida region. It has good weather and lots of older people. Maybe like Bonita Springs or Boca Raton?

The Villages. Lotof crazy old people thinking thier 25 driving around in golf carts and boozin it up with the ladies. Seriously

How far southwest can you go in Utah and still get awesome snow?|165560

I am from southern Ca and want to go to a nice snowy place this year for winter vacation. I know Utah is supposed to have some of the best snow. I went to Mammoth last year which was about a six-hour drive. I am looking to not really have too much longer of a drive than that. So how good of snow conditions -- if at all -- is it near St. George, Utah?

You can go to Brian Head ski resort, it_s near Cedar City and has really good snow, and it_s open now, so happy shredding!

What kind of footwear will I need in New York?|150581

I am going to New york next week and wondering what kind of footwear will I need. I know people recommend comfortable shoes but I am planning to wear skirts mostly (good option at this time?) and dont want to wear sports shoes.

I would wear comfortable, covered shoes while walking and riding the subway, and something stylish when you reach your destination. The nicer pair of shoes will fit into a large purse or bag, and you can change shoes as you reach the sites you are going to visit.

I_d recommend against wearing flip-flops, as they_re flimsy and your feet will get gross. Anything comfortable and supportive is the way to go (closed-toe or not is up to you). Just in the normal course of events in New York, you end up doing a lot more walking than you would otherwise, so keep that in mind when you_re packing. (Skirts are definitely a good way to go in the summer.)

since you don_t want to wear sneakers (aka sport shoes) then the next best thing are flip flops

I wear sandals all the time and I just ride the train and go to school, which takes me a second from the station and when I get home, my feet is dirty!! I think you should wear shoes.. like those Skechers shoes.

Wear some nice comfortable ballet flats since you are wearing a skirt and enjoy the city.

Take it from me, I wanted to wear shoes that looked good with my trendy skirts as well... if you spend the day out on the town in shoes not worn for comfort, you will mess up your feet, remember you have to keep up the pace walking through the City. I know it_s not your typical choice for fashion but you will see that most New Yorkers wear tennis shoes. However if you_re just going out for dinner or a play, then wear your favorite shoes.

Streets are dirty - wear covered shoes. You will SEE just about anything in New York - but you do not want to CATCH anything in NY! I almost NEVER wear sandals or open shoes, unless I park under Lincoln Center to see a concert or opera, and only am walking IN Lincoln Center!

So - wear pants and a neutral shoe.
