How can i get cheap tickets to see Chelsea Handler at Carnagie Hall?|181454

What is a good website for this and how can i know what a good price is. Also, i would like to sit close but the cheaper the better so anything will do. What will the prices be?

  • As cheap as US$40.00 to $800 so get them while you can.

    http://newyorkforum.us/index.php?showtop

If it_s cheaper. I_ll let you know.

  • I used Zebratickets but the best I found was only $250. Probably not as cheap as you were looking for.
  • How long would it take for a plane to go from New York to California?|191966

What about the same for a car and a train?

  • Plane: 5-6 hours
    Train: 3-4 days
    Car: 4-5 days.

Of course all of these depend on stops. It usually was 5 hours flying time from NC to CA, but we have driven it in as little as 3 1/2 days! (Thanks to a MORON in a TN hotel who gave our wake up call about 4 hours too early!!)

  • flying nonstop is about 5 and a half to 6 hrs. i_m not sure about a car or train...but i know its a lot longer than a plane!
  • What fashions do people wear in the Vermont area?|115166

I am from AZ and I know that people dress a lot differently here than they do on the east coast. We are leaving for Vermont in 10 days and will be there for two weeks. How do people dress there? Conservative? Jeans and T-shirts? I need to know what to pack.

  • Right now it is cool at nights and mornings, but can get 80_s during the day. It is best to bring pants, sweatshirt, and shorts, tank top. Most peolple don_t dress like they are from the _city_ Vermont is rural, and full of hippies, farmers, hikers.
If I had to think of a brand anme for Vermont it would be Columbia or Levi_s....:)

  • Just regular clothes, it is the summer here in the northeast we probably aren_t dressing to different than you. It is just in the winter. But you won_t find anything southern here, like cowboy hats, etc, that is one big difference.
  • What will I need to bring with me when travelling to the USA?|188504

I_m 20 and am flying from the UK to the USA this summer. I_m spending just over a week in Georgia, and then another couple of weeks in and around San Francisco, California.

Just wondered what you guys thought I should bring with me, in terms of official stuff (tickets, ID etc) and what would be useful to bring, clothes or otherwise.

Any other hints about my travelling in general would be appreciated too... this is my first big solo travel, so I_m up for any advice you all have got for me!

  • Obviously, you need your passport. Inoculations are not required to visit the USA, though being vaccinated against Hepatitis A _ B is a good idea even if you never leave home.

Almost all airline tickets today are _e-tickets_, but it is still better to print the information and carry it with you. Note that you may be asked by the Immigration Officer to show a return ticket when you enter the USA, and having a printed copy of your e-ticket will reduce confusion. Also carry with you printed copies of any hotel or other reservations

Do join the frequent flier program of the airline you plan to take across the Atlantic. Joining is free and you can do it online. Note that you can get also FF miles by staying at hotels.

Take ID (ex. a driving license) in addition to your passport. Shops in the USA often ask for ID when someone pays with a credit card and carrying your DL (or something similar) should be more convenient than carrying your passport. Also take a student ID if you have one as many museums and other attractions offer a discount for students.

ATMs are everywhere in the USA, and occasionally withdrawing money with a credit or debit card is better than carrying around lots of cash. Try to only use ATMs that belong to a real bank because the kind in hotels, restaurants, bars, and stores tend to charge a high service fee.

Notify the issuer of any credit or debit cards that you plan to use them abroad. That will prevent an automatic _security hold_ from being placed on the card(s) the first time you try to use them in the USA.

Take proof of medical insurance coverage with you and consider getting _trip medical insurance_. Trip medical insurance is cheap and is sold by airlines _ travel agents.

Send an e-mail meessage to yourself with your passport number, and the numbers of any credit cards you take with you. Sending scanned images to yourself is another option. That way the info is available via any computer connected to the Internet if somehting should be lost or stolen.

Sales taxes (basically VAT) in the USA are added at the cash register and are not on the price tag for most items. Retail sales tax in most cities is about 8%, so an item with $100 on the tag will actually cost $108 or so at the register.

Tip cafe/restaurant waiters and taxi drivers 15% (leave $1 extra for every $7 on the bill, so a $35 meal = a $5 tip). Tip 20% for really special service. You do not have to tip the staff at fast food places like McDonald_s.

The minimum age to legally purchase alcohol in the USA is 21. Sorry.

The Internet, cinema, and TV have reduced the other differences between the UK and the USA so you won_t have any real problems in daily life - except for drive left/drive right.

Georgia will be much warmer than the UK, so pack light, cotton clothes and take it easy during the afternoon.

SF itself can be cool during summer due to the cold-water current just offshore. However, just outside SF can be very warm.

If you are NOT visiting friends or family (and therefore don_t know anyone where you are going), consider joining SERVAS. It is a global network of hosts _ travelers and you will have local contacts in most places even if you don_t choose to stay with a host. www.servas.org

  • both places are going to be very hot! lots of shorts and tank tops and of course a bathing suit! The US is very different from the UK.. there isnt much more advice to give.. i mean bring as much money because california has wonderful shops that sell different things than UK. but hope that helps a little!! Have a Blast!

  • Remember to bring a camera. Also dont forget that it will be terribly hot so bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and always carry a drink to stay hydrated. Bring shorts and shirts but also bring pants just in case in rains. Have fun!

  • Its gonno b hot, remember that plus american food is nasty bring some food from home or foods that you are use too.

  • A really good digital camera to catch the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge!

  • you should bring your passport of course and other related stuff..

What are some things to do in New York City that are very little known?|167973

We go to New York a lot and we pretty much have seen every main attraction. We_ve seen the museums, Broadway, and all the touristy spots. Are there any little known spots in any borough of the city that could provide a fun family activity?

  • You can:

Go to the Zoo in Flushing Meadows/Corona Park. Most people only care about the Bronx Zoo. In the Queens Zoo, you can see some animals, and on the other side, there is a farm where you can feed some of the animals there.

To get to that Zoo, you can take the 7 train, get off at the Willets Point/Citi Field stationm, walk to Flushing Meadows and you can follow the signs to get to the zoo.

If you like playing sports, the park on Shore Road in Bay Ridge is great. It_s huge, it has a lot of baseball fields, some basketball courts and tennis courts, and its right off the water so it_s always cooler there.

To get there, you can take the N down to 59th st, and walk west towards the water.

Or you can take the R and get off at Bay Ridge Boulevard, 77th st, 86th st or 95th st, walk west and you_ll get to the park on shore road.

Prospect Park is another cool place. You can take a nice long walk around the park. There is a zoo in the park, there is a lake where you can rent paddle boats and canoes and head out on the lake, plus there is a section of the park that has a carousel and a couple of other things.

Right next to Prospect Park, there is the Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum.

To get to Prospect Park, you can:

Take the B/Q to the 7th Avenue Station or the Prospect Park Station.

Take the F/G and get off either at the 7th Avenue station, or the 15th St.- Prospect Park station.

Or you can take the 2/3 to the Grand Army Plaza station or the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum station.

  • Try a rooftop bar/restaurant at sunset. 230 5th comes to mind... Very memorable.

  • What is there to do for FREE in Kansas City during the DAY for a young married couple?|168747

I_m not interested in nightlife, and I don_t want a list of restaurants/movie theatres. I need to know what to do during the day for free or really cheap. We are kind of new to the area so we_re friendless at the moment. Luckily we have each other.

  • The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum is lots of fun. I haven_t been in a while but I believe it is free on Fridays. You can walk around on The Plaza, visit Crown Center. Walk around on Westport. There are lots of things to do in KC during the day. I hope this helps!! :)

  • Check the website for the city of Kansas City and I don_t know what city you_re talking about since there_s one in both Missouri and Kansas.
