What are some good places to visit in and near Houston?|152730

I want to take my daughter and 2 of her friends out on a small road trip. They are all 13. It is going to be for my daughter_s birthday, but I don_t know where to go. I would love it if you would help me out.

  • Kemah would be alot of fun. There is a rollercoaster, great seafood restaurants, a boat that goes out into the bay, a huge aquarium, carnival games, etc. And there will probably be boys there. Most 13 year old girls are boy crazy.

Or you could head to Galveston Island. Lots of things to do there.

If you want to drive further, the Riverwalk in San Antonio would be fun.

  • moody garedens, the natural musuem of science, the musuem of health, But no more astroworld

  • check www.houston.citysearch.com for good recommendations.
I recommend Kemah, Moody Gardens and the muesuems.
They will also like the Dave _ Busters (formerly known as Gillians) at I-10 (close to IKEA). There is an IMAX theater and they could watch the Hannah Montana Concert 3D movie

  • all of the above plus Galveston Island.

  • there is also a zoo in houston. i used to take my grand daughter there years ago

  • If they_re 13, they_re bound to love the Galleria. Also, check out the museums and zoo. Moody Gardens is always a lot of fun if you_re looking for something more educational. You could also take them to the beach in Galveston--it_s not the prettiest beach, but it_s still fun. Kemah is also a lot of fun. Also look into the Downtown Aquarium.

  • Austin.
  • How long does it take a letter to get from Michigan to Washington?|117577

  • Some time, for a long distance, by air....

  • Till they get there
  • Where is a good place to visit for a weekend in California that is drivable from Orange County?|114795

I live in Newport Beach, CA. My mother and I want to go out of town for a weekend. Where is a good place is that is not too far, not too close, and has a lot of things to do? Also, a place that isn_t too expensive is what we are aiming for!

  • What do you find to be the best site for driving directions?|128277

I_m driving 800 miles and I need good directions.

  • People swear by mapquest but I have found that let me down too many times. I go by Yahoo maps. I travel a lot for my work and have found that GPS is the best way to go.

  • I prefer yahoo but that_s just me and from time to time they all have given me the wrong directions so I invested in a gps because it tells you how to get where your going from where your at.....lets say you make a wrong turn reading the directions on paper unless you are familiar with the area it will be very easy to get lost if you had a gps then you_d make all the right turns and it give you the quickest route every time!!!!!!! good Luck but Id recommend a tom tom or a garmin they are great!!!!!

  • Google maps is always fastest for me. In fact, when driving from Atlantic City to New York, a relative from New Jersey took a longer route compared to the route suggested by Google maps.

Do you know of a child friendly US vacation spot for a couple celebrating a 10th wedding anniversary?|149468

My husband and I would like to plan a trip for our 10th anniversary, but will probably need to take our daughter if my sis is unable to keep her for the week. Outside of a cruise, do you know of nice resort or hotel that offers a kids camp or program on the premises. Our daughter is 5.

  • I would certainly consider the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale. It is such a beautiful romantic place and yet there are couples with children there as well. The reason being their wonderful activities for kids. They have a Camp Hyatt Kachina, kids from 3-5 or 6-12 get supervised games and activities, cowboy storytellers, making Indian beabwork, learning about the desert. The kids love it and you will too, as it leaves you free to enjoy the spa, golf or tennis or shopping or just lounging around one of the myriad pools. I don_t know when your anniversary is, but it_s hard to beat Arizona weather any time of year (it is a little HOT in July or August) but the rates are better then too.

Take a look at The Hyatt Regency and other great resorts in Scottsdale at

  • Go to Santa Cruz Ca.

  • cambria/san simeon california. nice hotels, restararaunts, elephants seals, beaches, hearst castle, antique stores, toy stores, cows, birds, the oceans, a lighthouse...i love it!!!

also...ashland, oregon is BEAUTIFUL! ashland has hotels, lots of ice creams, shakespearean plays in a model of the globe theater, and lots of little shops. trees, birds, nice people.

santa barbara is great too. it has beaches, a zoo...

  • Montecito Sequoia Lodge in California is our favorite place for family vacation.
It is a bit rustic but we always have great fun there. Our kids love it....the activities and counselors are the best!
My husband and I have time to be together to hike, relax, ride horses, and the food is great.

  • Las Vegas has become a better place to take families now. They have been focusing on it for a long time now...look into some places there.

  • Disneyworld/Disneyland in Florida and California
