How much money would it be if i were to move to USA Texas from Canada?|143294

Im going to move to the states in Texas, and i want to know how much money it is?

  • depends how you move..uhaul, moving company, only you in your car with what you can fit in....gas is at least 3.50/gallon in the US...uhauls use alot of gas or diesel......I moved from Texas to Canada in 2005, fuel costs approx 1000.00 then and was alot cheaper/gallon....and Texas is a huge state, where in Texas? we moved from the Texas/Mexico border, thats 700 miles across Texas alone......
  • What do I need to change when moving to another state?|160012

    Hello
I am planning on moving to Naples Florida later in 2009. I currently live in Indiana and was wondering what do I have to change when I get there. I figured my license, insurance, plates. I know I am forgetting a lot of thing. What else?

  • Driver_s license, plates, and insurance have to be done. But you_ll want to get the change of address card at the post office (where they usually have coupons on moving stuff). You_ll want to change the address for all your mail (credit cards, magazines, etc.)

You will need to prearrange with your current utilities a shut off date and your new utilities a turn on date. Plus if you currently lease an apartment, check the lease for the time requirements to notify your landlord of the move in case it states it automatically renews without notice. Also check online for a new place.

You most likely will be able to keep your cell phone company and number. I know lots of people, myself included, whose cell phone numbers don_t match the state they_re in (and since a lot of people don_t pay for long distance calls, it_s really a non-issue). If you bank with a large bank that has branches where you are and at the new place, no need to change banks. Otherwise, with direct deposit, you may not even need to change banks, if you like your current bank.

  • You will need to fill out a change of address at the post office. Also, notify your credit card companies of your change of address. Notify the phone and utility companies when to stop service...also cable and internet services. Got to your doctor and dentist offices and sign a permission slip so that when you get a new doctor and dentist after moving, the new docs can send for copies of your records. You will need to close or transfer your bank accounts. Need to change your cell phone service too.
  • What advice could you give for moving to NY?|117696

I_m planning a move by the end of the year to Long Island, NY to finish my education as a journalist. I_m a 20yo female, and could use the advice.

  • Ask yourself, Do I really need to move to NYC? If you answered no or is unsure then vacation in New York City until you are sure.

On your visit, here are a few things to bring to New York City.

    http://411newyork.org/guide/2008/03/13/t

Second, ask yourself, Where am I going to live? If you dont know where, you better start hunting for an apartment.

Third, ask yourself, What happens when I need help? If you dont know then, you will have to start looking for friends in NYC.

Fourth, ask yourself, How am I getting there? You have to save up to pay for your moving expense and storage.

Fifth, ask yourself, Will I be able to get a job? No money from a job and soon your savings will be finished and you will be out on the streets and in the cold.

Sixth, ask yourself, Can I go back to where I moved from? Most people move back when things get rough here so dont burn your bridges and keep in touch with old friends.

    Good luck,

    Steve

  • Only Jamaican Steve answered well. NYC is a fantastic place to come when you are young. Vibrant, tons of things to do, exciting etc. It is also expensive and this is the biggest obstacle in anyone_s way. LI is IMHO suburbia at it_s worst but you could live there more cheaply as it is further from Manhattan. The Long Island Rail Road will get you into the city easily (but you are bound to the LIRR schedule which can be a drag). Save as much money as possible. Scan ads for the cost of housing, research cost of utilities (cable, electricity, gas,) land line or just cell phone, cost of commute from LI to Manhattan or Brooklyn to go out etc. Cost of food, entertainment etc. Figure out what your monthly nut will be and then see if you can pull it off. Many people do so just keep that in mind.

  • I do hope your parent are supporting to b/c it_s not cheap living in NYC.

I would know, i live with my mom, and i am in debt, there is NO WAY i can move out any time soon.

I will give you advice though, if you do move here keep your doors locked.

I hope you have well off parents, b/c if you are supporting yourself, you will be stress out of your mind b/c of bills.

  • You_ll need to be able to dress for all 4 seasons. Have a warm winter coat, boots, hat and scarf.

Take some time and see New York City. Long Island is pretty much just one big suburb. Hit the museums, see at least one play and experience the different neighborhoods of NYC. The trains from LI to the city are reasonable so there is no reason you can_t go.

Living in LI will be cheaper than in NYC, but it still won_t be cheap so be sure you have your finances in order.

Be sure you find a good forest and walk through it in Autumn. The fall leaves in the North East have amazingly beautiful colors and if you are going to be there you should see them!

  • first r u gonna work in the city?? if so move closer traffic is horrible and confusing if ur gonna study in long island might as well do it and are u gonna be in the ghetto? TIPS; be caareful theres a lot of crazy ppl in nyc and u never get rest its such a busy city and the weather is horrible MY OPINION come if you can handle

  • dontt do it. way too expensive to live here. i was born here and i cant wait to move out when i get married
  • What clothes are good for Cincinnati this time of year, if the forecast says 55-70 degrees?|118734

I_m going to Cincinnati on a school rip and need to know what to pack!

  • pants and long sleeve shirts. You_ll need a light jacket for early morning and at night here

  • Layers. There is a substantial difference between high and low temperatures in the course of a day.

And a lightweight rain-proof jacket. It has not rained recently, which means that we may be eligible for a downpour at any moment.

  • Jeans and a light sweater for outdoor wear should be sufficient. But should bring along a light rain jacket and cap too. For indoor/evening events, business casual is the best way to go.

  • It was very cool (with frost on my windshield) this morning but then it warmed up quite nicely by afternoon.

I would suggest jeans and long sleeved shirts and you can take along a light jacket to wear in the mornings or evenings.

  • Jeans, light weight long sleeve shirts. People tend to dress pretty upscale there too.

What is the best thing to do in hollywood?|105440

Me and my mom are going to hollywood for the weekend and i am trying to find something that we could do. I don_t want to do anything really touristy or boring!

  • Go clubbing and eat at fancy restaurants! !

  • Hmm, Hollywood is perhaps one of the most touristy areas in Los Angeles. That doesn_t mean it_s not fun though. A lesser-known music venue is The Hotel Cafe; it_s very intimate, low-key, etc. Pantages Theatre is well-known but is great (it_s playing Wicked right now).

The LA tourism bureau_s website might help you out. Here_s their guide to Hollywood:
    http://www.discoverlosangeles.com/visito

You actually might like West Hollywood better, which is 15-20 minutes west. It_s much very hip and has a lot of cool places to hang out and explore.

  • The best thing to do in Hollywood? Try (if you can) to avoid all the prostitutes, homeless, beggars, pick-pockets, run-away kids (most of whom came here to _become an actor_),_dopers_, and of course , all the TOURISTS.

PS. Don_t expect to see any celebrities there. They don_t come to Hollywood unless they are required to attend an event.

  • I don_t get it. Why go to Hollywood if you don_t want anything touristy? Heck, I_m LOCAL and that_s exactly why I go there. It might be touristy, but it_s ultimately entertaining and NEVER boring. Never. EVER.

In addition to the Hollywood _ Highland Complex (and yes, UWink is a HOOT), you also have the Chinese Theater, Walk of Fame, and the El Capitan right across the street. The Pantages (where Wicked is playing) is just a few blocks away. You could easily spend all day in the H_H complex. You could also jump on the Red Line Subway to Universal City Walk. More places to eat and shop. Touristy? Yeah. Boring? Not even. How about some skydiving lessons at I Fly Hollywood (iflyhollywood.com), or a little cosmic bowling next door? Did you like the movie Forrest Gump? Then stop in for some shrimp at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.

    Have fun!

  • Maybe try exploring Haunted Hollywood. All sorts of locales around the Hollywood area are said to be haunted. Maybe you_ll see Marilyn Monroe_s ghost!

Here_s a good website to learn about some of the area_s hot spots for ghost activity!

    http://www.prairieghosts.com/hollywood.h

    ---_Enjoy your trip!

  • Hollywood _ Highland center. Decent shopping and you MUST check out the restuarant called Uwink there, its insane!
Just a short walk from the H_H center is the walk of fame area, its very entertaining there, lots of street performers and impersonators.

  • Hollywood and Highland. Specially Friday and Saturday night.

  • uwink, h_h center, fancy restaunts, famous people spottign hahah

  • Visit hollywood walk of fame. Its actually very pretty.

  • Listen to Obviousman.

  • i would stay away from hollywood ... too many seedy people there

  • See Wicked.
  • How old do you have to be to start a public-access show in Northern Indiana?|138965

How old do you have to be and are there any places that offer the chance for public-access shows, like mediacom? Please answer, my friends and I are 16 and wanted to start a show

  • i think you would be fine, but your guardians may have to sign some papers since you_re not an adult
  • Im going to nyc and bringing back lots of shopping!if i cut out labels lose bags and receipts, can i get fined?|113848

so is there anyway they can prove ive brought the stuff there? i mean i know its obvious but in the eyes of the law, will they have a leg to stand on? thanks amanda

  • If you cut out the labels how will they know that you bought them in New York? They may look new because you bought them to go to New York!!

Anyway, I am a New York regular and I always buy loads and have never been stopped. You watch next time I will now.

New York is Fab have fun shopping.

  • so long as your not bringing back a full container of shopping, you will be alright

  • i suggest that you hardly take any clothes with you, then buy loads and wear some of it whilst your there. so the tags wont be on, but that shouldnt matter because you couldnt return it when u get back home anyway! that will mean if you do get stopped, the clothes will be slighlty more worn!

but the likely hood is that u wont get stopped!

have a great time! im so jealous

    happy shopping!!

  • Big mistake cutting out the labels! Why is it against the law to buy things in NY anyway..................maybe you are in another country or something..............why not just box them and ship them to your home?? I_m confused.

  • if every does not have tags and no receipts found then you are fine.....make sure you don_t leave any shopping bags and boxes for them to suspect you got it recently....

  • Whaaaaat???

  • Buy your items---all that you want and then SHIP them home via United Parcel Service... you still have to pay a duty but it will be much less then if you tried to bring the items back with you on the plane or boat or however you are getting back to Great Britian........besides, smuggling IS a crime...and you really do NOT want that kind of hassle... ESPECIALLY since the fines associated with this crime are more then TRIPLE what you would pay to have to parcels shipped home to you...

  • Im going to New York next year an want to do loads of shopping too. Ive been told by other people to cut out the labels and stuff too and to try and wear a lot of the stuff aswell. Im guna give it ago if they pull me i_ll say there clothes i took over but never wore.
