Which are the best beauty schools in Florida?|100094

I want to go to a beauty school and i live in florida, can anyone give me any opinons?

  • If you_re really good, the school won_t matter.
You will be required to learn certain things to pass the State Board exam.
A Vocational Technical School will teach those things, for a lot less $$, than a private school will charge you. They will also help you apply for financial aide, if you need it.
If you have the big bucks, a Redken Academy, will teach you how to pass State Board and how to be a Redken Colorist.
There are other private schools, throughout the State, which cost more than a Vo-Tech, but are less than Redken.
    My advice to you is:
Visit several schools, talk to the instructors and the students.
Ask your hairdresser, if she attended a local school and how she liked it.
Perhaps, you could find a job as a shampoo assistant, so you could see how things work in a real salon setting, before making a final decision.
Your final phase of training will begin in the salon and will continue until you no longer love being a hairdresser. Every salon operates differently, so you have to be flexible enough to learn a new set-up.
You will learn something from every hairdresser you work with; some good, some not so good.

And my final piece of advice, if you decide to become a hairdresser is how to properly clean color bottles:
Put about 1/4 (one quarter) teaspoon of regular table salt in your color bottle(s), filll the bottle half way with warm water, replace the cap, cover the spout with your finger, shake vigorously, rinse with warm water and replace the cap, so that you don_t loose it. The salt will make the color release from the sides of the bottle.

    Best of luck!

  • I am not sure what area of Florida you live in, but I am an instructor at Central Florida College. We have an excellent Cosmetology program. This beauty school curriculum takes about 9-12 months depending on your commitment and availability. We are a Redken School, and located in Largo, Florida Pinellas county, near Tampa. There are day (full time) and evening (part time) classes available. They are an accredited school, you do not have to have your high school diploma or GED, they have been approved by the department of education and as long as you can pass a standard CAT type of test you can be enrolled. They also have financial aid available (they have a staff who will be happy to see what you qualify for)

The school itself if unbelievably gorgeous. All of the hair stations and equipment were especially shipped in from Italy. The facility is really posh. If you live in or near the area and are looking for a great beauty school, you should at least come and take a tour. Tell them Ms.J sent you :) I am sure I sound like a commercial, but believe me, it will be worth it.

  • Can illegals travel from Calif to Texas via greyhound without getting caught?|115471

My girlfriend is an illegal alien and wants to take the greyhound bus to move to Texas with me and wants to know if there_s border check points.

  • There ARE check points.

It_s risky, especially California to Texas. I don_t think she should risk it unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. Wait till she has a Visa.

P.S. If you get married she IS NOT _automatically_ a citizen! People have been sent back who have been married for a long time but never filed the official paperwork w/ICE.

  • There is always a risk. There are no border checkpoints from state to state. Only from country to country. However there still may be reason to be concerned.

It depends on where the coach sotps, if there are police there (eating, taking a break, getting gas, etc.), what the local policy at the stops are and if the police notice anything suspicious.

  • Unless you are traveling close to a border town, there are generally no check points set up between states. An example, outside of Eagle Pass, Texas, there is an immigration site to check people to ensure those who traveling into the interior of the state, have the necessary documentation. Barring any criminal or terrorist activity along the way, she should be ok traveling on a bus. Prior to your travel, I might suggest you check the web for any activity around the country, concentrating on the areas you will be travelling through. Good luck.

  • They didn_t used to but with all the commotion with illegals and what not, they have started to. Can_t say if they will search your bus because it is random but, why take the chance?! Get married and then you won_t have to worry, or have her follow the immigration rules and get her citizenship. Or you can go to Mexico with her and you be illegal:)

  • Anybody should be able to, there should be no such thing as an _illegal_ person. We are all people, and nobody should have the right to tell you where you can and can not live.

But anyway, I_d imagine that there is a border check point there, there are usually multiple check points between most states in the region.

And don_t worry about the asshats below me, they seem to think Americans are somehow more valuable human beings then others.

  • I like the marriage suggestion. Just get married and bingo she is automatically a citizen and you don_t have to worry about it. You can always have it annulled if it doesn_t work out.

  • Thanks to sanctuary cities it is illegal to ask about a person_s immigration status. California is one as is most of texas. I would not bet my life on it but I_m sure there arent checkpoints. Just have a legal person buy her ticket and go w/ her.

  • I think your biggest problem would be the produce check point in CA...but mainly that is checking produce coming in to CA and not going out. America is filled with a diversity of people, races, colors, creeds etc.

Unless your girl does something to cause a search she should be fine.

  • There are no border check points, but it has happened where INS does inspections on Grey hound buses. It would be a risk. It_s not very common though. It depends on the route.

  • As far as I know you don_t need a passport to travel between states. Unless you need ID to but a bus ticket, then I don_t see why not.

  • To buy a greyhound ticket they check if you are legal
they are some people who would take you for about the same price

  • Why you all dont get marriage

  • yes there is a border check point

  • i no a way ............ phone me take my address find me i can help call 999 and ask for I_mmigrant service im sure they can help you

  • Hey Phil, you_re an idiot. There is too such a thing as an Illegal Alien.

Anyway, no there are not border checks in the US for citizenship.
She_s no more likely to get caught on that bus, than she is shopping or whatever.

  • get the hell out of our country jesus people like u are the ones that ruin america for the americans idiots

I am a 40 year old single woman relocating to San Diego. I was wondering about good places to live.?|197042

I can_t afford to spend more than $350K on a home. I will be working in La Jolla and do not want more than a 30 min commute. I have no children but 2 dogs and would like some outdoor space for them and I like cafe bars and cool restaurants with an older crowd. I would rather not live in a student or family community what options do I have? Thanks for any guidance you can give.

  • You can_t get much of a home (maybe a condo at the most) within 30 minutes of La Jolla for $350K in a neighborhood that you would even consider living in. I think you should get a place to rent fairly close to La Jolla (look in the Clairemont 92117 area for the best place to live that_s close to La Jolla and at a decent price), and then go check out all of the neighborhoods that you can afford to see if any of them appeal to you. You would be making a mistake buying a place out here without knowing about the neighborhood the house is in. And, I think you would be pretty disappointed when you actually find out what that $350K will get you out here.

  • Kingston Ave is good. Very nice homes along the ocean, and affordable.
  • What is the best suburb of Charlotte, NC to raise a family?|146319

I am taking a job in Charlotte, NC and would like to know where are the best places to live with a family within 45 minute commute of Charlotte? Looking for safe, good schools _ family activites. Any advise welcome!

  • Nowhere not a safe place at all!!! Rock Hill SC is nice

  • Your best bet would be Fort Mill, SC. They have great communities, low crime and wonderful schools. In addition, it is very accessible to the Charlotte areas and much nicer than Rock Hill.

  • I love the North Charlotte/Huntersville area.

  • Go to Raleigh! Much better!
  • Best roads to travel in late Sept to see fall tree colors in West Virginia?|136184

We usually travel by way of Charleston, West Virginia, and the newer highways, but we plan to go back in late Sept to show new family member the fall leaves. I Notice the eastern part of the state (pocahontas) county starts to change in late Sept. What road do we get on in Virginia to enter Pocahontas county, West Virginia? I know color display, is better in early Oct, but you take vacations when you can get them.
    Thank you.

  • Use Google Maps _get directions_ function to plot a course from your location to a destination in Pocahontas county. Just about anywhere in WV is beautiful in the fall. I_m hoping to take a 3 day motorcycle trip into the Greenbank area in late August or September.

    http://maps.google.com/

  • You need to come to Fayette county. It_s just south of Charleston. The road is called route 19.. Drive across the new river gorge bridge.. the view does NOT get any better than that.. it_s absolutely gorgeous. Plus there is a really nice scenic overlook. I would say your best bet would be to map quest directions to it, though, because I don_t really know where you_re coming from, but I assure you that you will LOVE the view =).
I cant really find the best picture of the foliage around the bridge in the fall, but on this site there are some place in southern WV that aren_t very far from the bridge that you can go to, and in the third row of the pictures you can see the bridge:

  • Where are good places to take scenic pictures west of Denver and east of the Divide?|147093

The farthest I_m looking to travel would be Idaho Springs or close to it anyway.

  • Some of my favorites starting at Idaho Springs (St Mary_s is beyond Idaho Springs but it is nice):
Idaho Springs Main Street historic district
Mt Evans Road (closed this time of year) but once it is open all sorts of views
Oh My God Road north out of Idaho Springs
Evergreen Parkway to Elk Meadow - the upper meadow is lovely
Drive through Bergen Park and find th Elk herd
Squaw Pass Road to Beaverbrook Watershed openspace
Lookout Mountain and Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave

  • the picture window bridge facing west (or even east for that matter) is a good pic, at evergreen. if you don_t know what it is, when you summit at/near evergreen/ buffalow bills grave, there is a bridge w/ no center support because it frames the mountains perfectly. also, the flying suacer house used in woody allens _sleper_ is kinda neat.

  • Saint Mary_s Glacier near Idaho Springs
  • What is the cheapest hotel on Disneyworld grounds that has 3 bed rooms?|113381

Thanks!! Also which hotel is your favorite? I am thinking of taking my mom, father in law, me, my hubby, and my 3 year old daughter. Thanks!

  • Dont stay on property if you need that much space. Just rent a condo or House nearby (5-10 minutes) you will save hundreds of $$ and be much more comfortable, especially for that 3 year old. I know the Dining plan is free, but getting 2 or 3 Rooms even at a value resort on Disney is more expensive than renting offsite and paying your own money for food.
I got a rate of $595 (incl taxes/fees) for 1 Week offsite with 4 BR and private pool.

  • The value resorts of Disney are the Pop Century Resort, the All-Star Movies Resort, All-Star Sports Resort, and the All-Star Music Resort. They are all located on Disney property and have free shuttle service. Your daughter would probably enjoy the All-Star Movies resort the most because she would be able to see some of her favorite characters. You can find more information on that resort here:

    Hope this helps!

  • Cheap and 3 bedrooms on Disney property doesn_t exist. I know that Disney has villas at some of their deluxe resorts, but they aren_t cheap.
The cheapest options on Disney property is the Family Suites at the All Star Music Resort. They can accommodate 6 people. They have a bedroom, livingroom, and kitchenette.

    You may want to try...
All Star Vacation Homes. You can rent a house for around $100 a night.
