With so much metropolis and people,plus nowhere else has that number of fires!

Much of California has a semi-arid climate. The brush grows there during the rainy season and dries out during the summer. It is extremely flammable and when conditions are just right, such as when hot, dry winds blow in off the deserts, it doesn_t take much to cause a major brushfire. It could be nothing more than a lightning strike, car exhaust, or a carelessly tossed cigarette, and you have a major disaster on your hands. The terrain of Southern California doesn_t help. It is mountainous, which provides even more ideal conditions for fires to burn since fires burn faster when they are moving uphill and the steep hills provide wind tunnels for winds that can blow up to 70 MPH. What makes the problem worse is when people continue to build in outlying areas or on steep hillsides. They make themselves vulnerable because their homes often become inaccessible during one of these fires and they can often burn down before fire fighters can ever reach them.

Like all other states, most of California is not a metropolis. There is a lot of dry brush due to arid conditions and lack of rain. Add to this windy conditions and dry lightning storms or careless people and you_ve got serious risk for fires.

My entire family and I are going to Universal Studios and my father in law is worried about the rides. He is 5_8_, about 360lbs, and carries most of it in his lower body. He has no problems at Disneyland. Thanks! (Also please be kind, he is a very nicer person so keep your mean comments to yourself)

You_ll probably be fine. Most rides only restrict people who are morbidly obese from riding and 360 pounds at 5_8 is not morbidly obese. When going on the rides just be sure to read the warning signs first and see if they mention a maximum weight capacity. I have seen people who weigh way more then 360 lbs go on many rides without problems. Usually it is waterslides where you only have to worry about it in that weight range is all.

Me and my wife have been debating where to move.. We are currently in Chicago in a very nice area but the taxes here are the highest in the country.. We were looking at somewhere where the beach is near and that it is always warm... I currently have a online business but also would want to find a second job where ever we move.. What are some good cities with low crime good schools and a steady job market ??

Immigrating to the U.S. takes years. If you do not have immediate family members in the U.S., or a huge amount of money to invest, or a very rare job skill...the only way is to apply through the Diversity Lottery Program. You must register for the lottery 2 years ahead of time...there is open registration each fall. Then about one of every 60 applicants is chosen to be interviewed for consideration. The process costs several thousand dollars and takes several years. Not every country qualifies for the diversity lottery program. Any country that has sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S. in the past few years, is off the list for at least 2 years.. What I am saying here is that it is a very difficult process and you need to be very sure it is what you want. If you are from the U.K ( eccept for Northern Ireland) you are not currently eligible to apply. See sites below to read more about the immigration process. It is equally difficult for an American citizen to immigrate to the U.K. If you are from the U.K., the entire E. U. is open to you, and you may explore that option.

It won_t be easy to LEGALLY immigrate.

Depending on where you are from and your circumstance look for 2 to 7 years to get a green card (makes you legal to get work), than another 5 to 10 years after that for citizenship.

If you have a special skill you may be able to work sooner with an H1-B or other type of VISA, but you need to be sponsored by an employer for one of them (basically have a job already before you come to the US).

You basically need a job in the US, and that means you need an employer who will sponsor a work visa for you (can_t get a work visa on your own).

An option you might want to consider is going to university in the USA. Obtaining a student visa is much easier than getting a work visa, and you MAY be able to work on-campus while attending university. That will also give you a diploma that is more easily recognized by US employers, and the university will help you search for jobs as you get close to graduation. Going to school in the USA long-term will also help you decide if emigrating is really what you want to do.

I am going to be hiking from Yosemite Valley to Sequoia National Park. Then from Sequoia National Park I need to somehow get to Las Vegas. What would be the easiest and least expensive way. Bus, Train, or renting a car. Also what city would I have to go to? Thanks

The _easiest_ way to get from Sequoia to Las Vegas is probably to take the Sequoia-Visalia shuttle, which will run $10-15 depending on the day (weekends are $15), then take an Amtrak or a Greyhound bus from there to Las Vegas. That will run roughly $55 on top of the Sequoia-Visalia shuttle.

One other way to get to Las Vegas is probably to hitchhike to Fresno, and from Fresno take a Greyhound bus to Las Vegas. Tickets for the Greyhound route run between 60 and 90 dollars, depending on when you go and what kind of ticket you have. I_d suggest getting your ticket ahead of time to get lower rates.

Otherwise, renting a car would be pretty expensive, and I believe you_d have to make to to Fresno anyway to find a place to rent from. Bus, by far, would be the cheapest.
