How is the process to get a Canadian Tourist Visa from the US when you are from southamerica?|105675

I__m from southamerica but I currenntly live in Alaska where I study. I wanna go to Canada that is right next to here but cuz I_m from southamerica I need a tourist visa and sadly I live in a small town that is kinda away from anchorage, AK where is the nearest Canadian consulate aos I was wondering if you could do the whole process by mail or how does it works. Thanks a lot!!!

You can do it all by mail. I looked it all up on line when we sent an Eastern European au pair (she was on a J-1 au pair visa, she is now here on a student visa) to Canada for a rowing meet. It was, I think, $50 and she had to send in some of her original paperwork, so you should apply while you not going to be traveling. It took about 2 weeks for the paperwork to come back.

But I_m sure we didn_t have to go to Anchorage to do it. We sent it to the Canadian embassy in Seattle by US Mail.

You should be able to do it via mail, or perhaps even online ...

Public transportation from hotel to Universal Studios, Disneyland and Los Angeles airport?|110820

I am planning a vacation for Los Angeles and I am wondering which 1 star hotel to stay (so that the stay is inexpensive). I am planning to goto Univ studios _ Disneyland. Which hotel would be ideal to all these fun places and most importantly close to the airport? Any insight on public transportation to Univ studios and Disneyland will be helpful. Thanks

Motel 6 is about the cheapest. Its just about 2 miles from LAX and offeres shuttle service. If you have the shuttle take you back to LAX there are buses and shuttles to take you to those places. For Universal, under the Blue sign and shuttle bus _G_. That will take you to the Green line Metrorail. Take the green, then the blue then the Red directly to Universal. For Disneyland from LAX, go to the Orange sign for shuttles (Super Shuttle and Primetime Shuttle) or Disneyland has a BIg bus that leaves every 30 minutes under the Green sign.

Public transportation is not as it is in say... New York or London. So you will probably have more luck just catching a cab, or walking. But if you are patient, you can get around using the bus system. Also, a lot of hotels will have a _shuttle_ for people staying there...

well the parks are pretty far from eachother (about a one or two hour in car(no traffic))
Then the airport is closer to universal about 30m-1hour away. alot further from disneyland tho.

I suggest you find some other places to visit in L.A. - you will just be seeing the tourist-y side and nothing of the real L.A.

What is that Japanese looking building on the cliff at the Intersection of Routes 87 and 287 in New York?|189623

Whenever we are driving back to Albany, from PA we see this building around the Sloatsburg Suffern Exit, high up on the cliff. It looks like a huge Japanese style building but we have no idea what it is and we_d really like to find out. Any help?

What advice can you offer for a first time visitor to San Diego?|126860

You need a car. If your destination is not on the trolley line, you_ll waste hours waiting for or riding the bus.

Some must see attractions are the world famous Zoo, Sea World, and Balboa Park. Balboa Park is the largest urban cultural park in the country. You can get a park passport which allows you entry to a dozen museums as well as the zoo.

North County San Diego is home to the Zoo_s Wild Animal Park. There are multi acre enclosures where herds of wild animals roam plus lots of hiking trails.

La Jolla offers great views, great food, and shopping.
Check out the surfers at historic Windansea Beach. At low tide you can walk out onto the tide pools. Walk along the Cove and check out the caves. Visit the Museum of Contemporary Art. Take a stroll on Prospect St and check out the shops, galleries, and have some authentic Mexican food and Alfonso_s. Then head to the Birch Aquarium at The Scripps Institution of Oceanography. It has a spectacular view of the bluffs over the Pacific Ocean.

Not sure where you_re coming from, but there_s lots of scammers here, just be aware.
Check out the police blotters in the areas you intend to visit. Obviously some places are better than others, but it_s not always easy to tell.
Some of the beach areas have their fare share of surfer punks that are a bit territorial. Lotta tweakers in San Diego, too (meth heads).
California is weird.

Bring a camera, first of all. There are so many beautiful things to take photos of here in San Diego!

And yes, a car is seriously recommended, especially if you_re only visiting for a few days. San Diego is BIG and while we do have a decent public transit system, it can be time consuming to use.

I_d also recommend ponying up the money for the Old Town Trolley Tour. It_s an awesome way to learn a LOT about San Diego in very little time. I_ve lived here my whole life and still learned stuff about San Diego when I went on the tour a couple years ago. Rates are around $30 per person, I think, but well worth the cost!

If you_re a member of AAA, go to your local office and get a tour book. Those things are immensely helpful in finding out of the way and little-known _locals_ places to visit.

Finally, no matter what you do, enjoy your stay!

Taxi_s are crazy expensive. San Diego is a series of suburbs. It is not like the Bay Area, Chicago, NY, Boston, Philly etc... You must have a car to do most of San Diego tourist stuff. There is minimal if any public transportation.

I would like to do 3 months unpaid work experience in the USA and then travel down the West Coast for about a month but I_m not sure if it_s possible to get a work Visa? The only place I have found to help charges ��699! I am not at university and graduated about 4 years ago so I don_t count for any of the student visas.
Is it possible to get a sponser and how likely is that?

we_re going from the 29th nov-3rd dec and were just wondering whether to expect snow?

The last few years we_ve had very little snow and nothing significant until February- but NY weather is so unpredictable you just never know! Have fun!

it really depends what part of new york u are going to. i lived in upstate ny for about 6 yrs. we usually started seeing snow about mid nov to early dec. it just depends. im sure there will the snow when u go up there.

Usually mid January, February, or March, Sometimes November. Its so unpredictable at times. There was snow in New Jersey last week. lol

It can start anywhere from Mid-November to December. It all depends on the weather of course. You never know. The temperatures have been fairly cooled recently so who knows. Maybe soon then later.

If you are going to New York City then the chances are good that you would not see any snow. Technically the winter does not start till the last week of December.

There could be snow... but usually starts around Christmas time...magic!
